Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mark Buehrles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Averill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buehrles has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Buehrles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tim Averill!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Franklyn Lucas and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Averill shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Buehrles manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Averill wants to control from the top but Buehrles keeps moving.
Averill postures up in Buehrles's guard and throws a big left but Buehrles blocks it.
Buehrles keeping moving, preventing Averill from controlling successfully.
Averill has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Averill trying to stand up but can't free himself from Buehrles's guard.
Averill wants to control from the top but Buehrles keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Buehrles is breathing heavily.
Averill pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Buehrles is keeping the position for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Averill dives in and grabs Buehrles's left leg, looking for a takedown. Buehrles pushes down on Averill's head and hops out.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Averill shoots in for a takedown but Buehrles shows good takedown defense.
Averill lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Averill.

Mark Buehrles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tim Averill.

Buehrles forces Averill back against the cage and clinches.

Averill has Buehrles pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Buehrles manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Averill pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Averill.
Averill misses with a wild combination.
Averill shoots in and drives through. Buehrles sprawls well.
Averill changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Buehrles tries to avoid it but Averill manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Buehrles to the ground. Buehrles escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Averill misses with a series of wild punches.
Averill dives in and grabs Buehrles's left leg, looking for a takedown. Buehrles pushes down on Averill's head and hops out.
Horrible takedown by Averill or perhaps it was just good defense by Buehrles which made him look bad.
Buehrles displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Averill.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Averill dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Buehrles throws a sloppy head kick and Averill moves out of range easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Averill is defended easily by Buehrles.

Buehrles misses with a few strikes there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Averill lands a head kick. Buehrles smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Buehrles moves into the clinch.
Averill wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Averill tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Buehrles just stands there and leans against the cage.

Averill jumps into guard, dragging Buehrles to the mat.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Averill is looking for a triangle but Buehrles pushes his legs off easily.
Buehrles wants to pass the guard but Averill is keeping the position.

Averill looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Buehrles puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Buehrles is thwarting Averill's attempts to control the position.
Averill wants to get back to his feet.
Buehrles prevents Averill from improving his position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Averill looking for a sweep. Not yet Averill, not yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Averill showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Despite being in the dominant position, Tim Averill just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Averill moves in looking to clinch but Buehrles pushes him off.

Averill shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Averill was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Buehrles is squirming around, avoiding Averill's attempts to control the action.
Buehrles is looking to improve his position but Averill isn't that keen on the idea.

Averill takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Averill stands up from mount. Strange move.
Averill fails with the takedown
and Buehrles counters with a big head kick but Averill shrugs it off.

Averill closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Buehrles did well to prevent Averill getting side control.

Averill tries to pass to full mount but Buehrles defends it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Buehrles is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Averill defends well.
Averill wants to control from the top but Buehrles keeps moving.
Averill tries to free his leg and advance position but Buehrles is retaining full guard.
Mark Buehrles has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tim Averill is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Averill wants to control from the top but Buehrles keeps moving.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Tim Averill.
I've got Averill winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
