PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chung Riddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanchez has chosen Naughty by Nature - O.P.P. as his entrance music. Carlos Sanchez struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 136.0lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Riddell has managed to clinch.

Sanchez gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Sanchez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Riddell scores with a couple of body punches from the bottom.
Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.

The fighters are battling for position here. Riddell manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Sanchez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Riddell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Sanchez postures up in Riddell's guard and throws a big left but Riddell blocks it.
Sanchez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Sanchez wants to control from the top but Riddell keeps moving.
Sanchez is looking to stand up but Riddell won't let him.

Riddell working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sanchez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sanchez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Riddell wants to sweep here but Sanchez controlling him for the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sanchez shoots in but Riddell avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Sanchez darts in and clinches Riddell up against the cage.
Riddell wants a takedown but no success here.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Riddell.
Riddell blocks a body shot from Sanchez.
Riddell is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Sanchez gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Riddell.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chung Riddell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Riddell tries for a takedown but Sanchez manages to get underhooks.
Riddell is breathing heavily.
Riddell tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Sanchez just stands there and leans against the cage.

Sanchez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Riddell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Riddell throws and elbow that misses. Sanchez uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Riddell's guard. Nice move by Sanchez!

Riddell wants to sweep but no luck.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Sanchez wants to control from the top but Riddell keeps moving.
Riddell has a closed guard, preventing Sanchez from standing up.
Riddell trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Sanchez working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Riddell's head.
Riddell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Sanchez passes Riddell's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Sanchez is controlling the pace.

Sanchez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Riddell doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sanchez.

Sanchez is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Riddell still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Riddell has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Riddell cracks Sanchez with a big right hand but Sanchez just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Riddell throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Sanchez works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Riddell avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sanchez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Riddell throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sanchez works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Sanchez is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Riddell rolls with it to try and escape but Sanchez cranks on the arm and Riddell is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
