PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Kermodian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and YB Sol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kermodian comes to the cage accompanied by Arctic Monkeys - Mardy Bum. Sol has chosen SFIV - Theme of Ryu 2 as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Kermodian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, YB Sol!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch lands to the side of Kermodian 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Sol stuffs the takedown attempt from Kermodian. Kermodian gets slowly back to his feet.
Nice defenses there by Kermodian.
Kermodian fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kermodian slaps away a takedown attempt from Sol, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Sol fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Kermodian on the side of the head.
Sol lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Kermodian throws a looping overhand right but Sol ducks down to avoid it.
Sol scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Kermodian's corner calls for a 1-2. Kermodian obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Sol tries to close the distance and clinch but Kermodian swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kermodian misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sol.

Sol clinches up with Kermodian and pushes him back against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kermodian stalling.
Sol has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kermodian avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Sol goes for a takedown attempt but Kermodian pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Mark Kermodian has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of YB Sol.
Kermodian is looking to land body kicks.

Kermodian throws a series of punches but Sol moves out of range.

Kermodian cracks Sol with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Kermodian drives through and clinches with Sol against the cage.

Kermodian pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sol moves away from the strike by Kermodian.
Kermodian catches Sol with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Sol misses the shot to the body.
Sol keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kermodian.
Kermodian pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kermodian connects with a body shot.
Kermodian pushes Sol away with a front kick.
Sol looks gassed!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sol avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Kermodian throws a nice outside leg kick.
Sol avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sol swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Kermodian scores a takedown into full mount!
Kermodian has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Sol's face.
Kermodian controlling the pace for now.
Kermodian's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A nice elbow there by Kermodian.
Sol tries to lock up and control but Kermodian gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Sol is wriggling around trying to escape.
Sol wants to control but Kermodian is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kermodian controlling the position easily from mount.
Kermodian breaks from Sol's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Kermodian sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sol keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Kermodian has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kermodian looking to secure an arm triangle but Sol defends it well.
Kermodian takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Kermodian wants to control the pace but Sol is squirming around nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kermodian looking to finish Sol with some ground and pound. This is bad for Sol!

Kermodian lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Kermodian looks to throw the jab but Sol is out of range.
Sol lands a lovely overhand right.

Kermodian closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kermodian lands in his opponent's guard.

Sol looks to land a right hand but Kermodian moved out of range.
Kermodian bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Sol's head backwards.
Sol misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kermodian.
Kermodian does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Sol takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Kermodian swats away the attempt to clinch by Sol.
No joy there for Kermodian, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kermodian cracks the inside of Sol's front leg.
Sol takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kermodian chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Kermodian works the jab nicely.
Kermodian throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Sol.

The fighters circle momentarily. Kermodian darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Sol jumps guard but Kermodian stands there with Sol around his waist. Sol gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Well Kermodian has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
