Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Roth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Charlie Day is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eddie Roth! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Charlie Day! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Roberts and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Day fails with an attempt to clinch.
Day circles away from the clinch attempt and Day counters with a shoot takedown. Roth fights it but they end up in guard. Roth trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Roth on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Roth tries to get out of the position. Roth is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Roth keeping full guard, as Day tries to pass. Roth throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Day trying to control the position from guard on top but Roth is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roth throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Day motions for Roth to come forward. Day throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Roth fails with the takedown and Day counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Day throws a one two combo.
Day tries to clinch there but Roth circles away.
Roth darts in trying to clinch and Day counters with a flying knee. Nice. Roth misses with a takedown and Day counters with a nice body shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Day tries for a takedown but Roth circles away easily and Roth counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Day's guard now. Day looks gassed! Roth looking to pass the guard. Roth lands a couple of elbows. Roth drops back looking for a leg! Day is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Day manages to kick Roth off! Roth jumps back into Day's guard. Roth won't allow Day to sweep him here. Roth wants to pass the guard but Day is keeping the position. Day keeping moving, preventing Roth from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Day wants to sweep here but Roth controlling him for the moment. Roth advances to half guard. Day is trying to stand.
Roth looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Roth shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Day's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Roth pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Day is keeping the position for now. Roth throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Day works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Day looking to control.
Roth lands a couple of digs. Day keeping moving, preventing Roth from controlling successfully. Roth trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Roth wants to control from the top but Day keeps moving. Roth is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Roth trying to control but Day is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Eddie Roth dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Day tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Roth paws at him with a jab and circles away. Roth doesn't succeed with the takedown and Day counters with a low kick, right behind Roth 's knee. Roth closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Roth lands in his opponent's guard. Roth trying to control but Day is working from the bottom. Roth works a leg free and moves into half guard. Day is breathing heavily. Roth not landing any meaningful shots this time. Roth is looking to take a break and control but Day is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roth lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Roth is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Roth looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Roth passes to side control. Day can't do much from the bottom here. Roth is looking to take a break and control but Day is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Check out the look on Roth's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Day is not content to let Roth control the position. Day tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Roth wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Roth working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Roth is looking to take a break and control but Day is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Roth working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Roth trying to control the position but Day is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Eddie Roth just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Roth shoots and misses and Day counters with a head kick. That will keep Roth thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Day throws a head kick but Roth moves out of range.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Roth. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eddie Roth. That's going to take a lot out of him. Day goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Roth avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Roth ducks under a wild hook from Day. Roth doesn't manage to clinch there - Day circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Day fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Roth shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Day napping and manages to drive through into side control! Day trying to remain calm as Roth controls from the top position. You can see the frustration on Day's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Roth wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Day, who protects the arm well. Roth tries to advance to mount but Day denies him. Roth landing a few strikes. Roth tries to move to mount but Day blocks the move with his legs. Roth working the head with strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Eddie Roth dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Roth throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Day's waist but Day gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Roth off to one side. Charlie Day seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Roth moves out of range of the body kick from Day.
Roth has his takedown stuffed and Day decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Roth's guard. Day preventing the sweep. Roth looking for a triangle here. Day is fighting it but it looks tight! Roth pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Day is tapping out - this one is all over!
