Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Ray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cody Myres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jesse Ray! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cody Myres! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ray throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Myres's waist but Myres gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ray off to one side. Myres has a takedown stuffed. Ray closes the distance and clinches. Myres's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Myres shoots in for a takedown but Ray shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Ray tries a head kick but it misses.
No joy there for Ray, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Myres looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ray is fending him off so far but Myres persists. Nope, Ray circles away and we're back to standing. Jesse Ray has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cody Myres. Ray with a lazy takedown attempt and Myres counters with a takedown into side control. Ray is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Myres's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Myres controlling the pace. Ray is staying active underneath Myres, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Myres slows the pace down in half guard. Myres prevents Ray from improving his position. Ray is breathing heavily. Ray is trying to stand.
Ray is looking for a sweep. Myres is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Myres is trying to control. Ray wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Myres with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Myres wants to pass the guard but Ray is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Myres gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Ray counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Myres thinking. Ray misses with a double jab
and Myres counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Ray leaves Myres with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Ray throws a lazy head kick and Myres counters with a shoot takedown. Ray fights it but they end up in guard. Ray is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Myres trying to control the position from guard on top but Ray is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Myres trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Ray manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Myres keeping moving, preventing Ray from controlling successfully. Ray looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Ray wants to stand and escape but instead Myres has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cody Myres dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Ray shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Myres as he avoids it easily. Myres throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Ray swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Myres counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Ray tries to pull guard but Myres holds him up against the cage and eventually Ray drops back down to his feet.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Myres. Myres stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jesse Ray. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ray darts in trying to clinch and Myres counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ray! Ray could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Myres takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Myres tries to control but Ray wriggling away. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Myres landing strikes from the mount. Myres controlling the position easily from mount. Myres lands a big elbow. Myres tries to control but Ray wriggling away. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Myres cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Myres wants to control the pace but Ray is squirming around nicely. Myres controlling from the full mount. Myres looking to control but Ray is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Despite being in the dominant position, Cody Myres just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ray closes the distance but Myres moves to the side and Myres counters with a series of strikes. Ray will be more careful next time no doubt. A combination from Ray does no damage. No luck with that takedown attempt from Myres. Ray throws a series of punches but Myres moves out of range. Myres leaves Ray with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Ray slips a jab and a cross from Myres.
Ray keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Ray closes this distance looking for a takedown but Myres circles away. Ray moves in looking to clinch but Myres pushes him off. Ray misses with a combination
and Myres counters with a shoot takedown. Ray fights it but they end up in guard. Ray might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Myres wants to pass the guard but Ray is keeping the position. Myres is looking to advance position but Ray has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Myres wants to control but Ray is having none of it. Ray trying to control but he's not successful this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cody Myres showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Ray tries to clinch but Myres moves away and Myres counters with a nice double leg into guard. Myres trying to control the position from guard on top but Ray is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Myres looking to sit in guard and control but Ray gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Myres is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Ray is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Ray trying to control but Myres postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Myres wants to take a breather but Ray is having none of it. Myres keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Ray slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Ray looking to hit a scissor sweep but Myres is one step ahead there. Myres wants to control from the top but Ray keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ray looking to control.
Myres stopping the sweep attempt from Ray. Myres is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Myres decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ray, up you get! Ray tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Ray with a poor takedown and Myres counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Myres lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Myres. Ray tries to bum rush Myres with a series of wild strikes but Myres uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Ray closes the distance but Myres moves to the side and Myres counters by moving into the clinch. Myres breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Myres displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ray. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jesse Ray. That's going to take a lot out of him. No luck with that takedown attempt from Myres. Myres closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ray circles away. Myres fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ray sprawls well initially but Myres persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Jesse Ray has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Cody Myres is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Ray is refusing to be controlled, as Myres sits in half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Cody Myres comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Myres has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
