Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Izy Nakata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Zampidis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Izy Nakata! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Zampidis! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nakata thows a body shot but no joy. Nakata could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Zampidis drops his hands momentarily and Nakata takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Zampidis tries to close the distance and clinch but Nakata swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A cross from Nakata lands. Zampidis throws a body punch but Nakata moves out of range. Nakata moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Nakata thows a body shot but no joy. Nakata tries to bum rush Zampidis with a series of wild strikes but Zampidis uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Nakata tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Zampidis swivels and escapes. No luck with that takedown attempt from Nakata. Nakata throws out a loose jab but Zampidis uses good head movement to avoid it. Zampidis works over Nakata's head and body with a nice combination.
It looks like Izy Nakata has been cut. Nakata misses with an uppercut. Zampidis saw that one coming. Zampidis throws a right and a left that Nakata avoids nicely. Zampidis moves in looking to clinch but Nakata pushes him off. Nakata dips down and scores with a jab to the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The fight stays on the outside here - Zampidis looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Zampidis shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Nakata changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Zampidis tries to avoid it but Nakata manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Zampidis to the ground. Zampidis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Izy Nakata. That's going to take a lot out of him. Zampidis doesn't manage to clinch there - Nakata circles away.
Nakata throws out a loose jab but Zampidis uses good head movement to avoid it. Zampidis is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Nakata tries to bum rush Zampidis with a series of wild strikes but Zampidis uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Zampidis is looking to clinch but Nakata is avoiding it.

That's one minute gone in the round. Zampidis misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Zampidis walks into a left hand. Nakata showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Zampidis.
Zampidis fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Nakata, pushing him back against the ropes. Zampidis wants to break the clinch but can't.

Zampidis looks gassed! Zampidis manages to break the clinch.
Nakata scores with a jab to the head.
Zampidis keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
No joy there for Zampidis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mike Zampidis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Nakata decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Nakata seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Nakata works his foot free and advances to mount. Zampidis keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Nakata controlling the pace for now. Nakata get's back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nakata digs a good hook to Zampidis's body.
Nakata lands a jab-cross combination. Zampidis walks into a straight right hand from Nakata. Zampidis drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Nakata bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Nakata advances to mount. Nakata controlling from the full mount. Nakata working for a submission but Zampidis is keeping him at bay. Zampidis really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Zampidis swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zampidis is working to get back to half guard.
Nakata tries to control but Zampidis wriggling away. Zampidis wants to hold on but Nakata pushes him away. Nakata blocks Zampidis's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Nakata looking to control but Zampidis is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Zampidis is desperately trying to improve his position but Nakata has a good base and remains in mount. Nakata can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Zampidis is looking to escape. Nakata avoids the attempt from Zampidis to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Nakata with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Nakata looking to control and managing it successfully. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zampidis can do anything to dispel that myth. Zampidis is looking to get to half guard. Nakata has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Zampidis is forced to tap!
