Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kelvin Shum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Palmer feints and as Shum raises his hands in defense, Palmer changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they both work up against the meshing.
Palmer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shum works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Shum throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Shum doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Shum wants to sweep but no luck.
Shum is working hard here to advance position.

Shum can't keep his opponent in guard - Palmer advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Palmer tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Palmer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Shum cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Shum connects with a nice short shot to Palmer's temple.

Shum wants to break free but Palmer has control.
Shum unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Palmer! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Shum is unloading with more strikes now! Palmer drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!
