Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ralph Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brett Yarris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yarris has chosen Land Down Under as his entrance music. Ralph Gracie has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ralph Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brett Yarris!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Summer Carpenter and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie blocks a jab.
Yarris misses the shot to the body.
Yarris connects with a body shot.
Yarris is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gracie.
Yarris throws a nice looking combination but Gracie bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Yarris throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Gracie displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Yarris throws out the jab.
Yarris jabs Gracie right on the nose. Gracie blinks but takes it well.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Yarris drops Gracie with a beautiful combination! Gracie stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Yarris is looking for the KO!


Gracie is rocked!


It looks like Ralph Gracie has been cut.
Yarris swings for the body but Gracie moves out of range.
Gracie steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Yarris.
Brett Yarris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gracie avoids the body shot from Yarris.
Yarris throws a looping overhand right but Gracie ducks down to avoid it.
Yarris tries to bum rush Gracie with a series of wild strikes but Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Yarris throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters circling - Yarris throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Gracie tries to clinch but Yarris is having none of it.

Gracie closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Yarris to the mat! Yarris manages to get full guard.
Gracie passes Yarris's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Yarris pushes Gracie off and gets back to his feet.
Gracie takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Yarris throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Gracie throws a looping overhand right but Yarris ducks down to avoid it.
Yarris lands with a cross.

Gracie shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gracie showed some decent athleticism there.
Yarris looks like he's trying to stand up.
Gracie controlling the pace.
Gracie is looking to take a break and control but Yarris is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yarris won't allow Gracie to pass to mount.
Gracie trying to control from half guard but Yarris is working away.
Gracie frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Yarris is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Gracie takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Gracie tries to control but Yarris wriggling away.
Gracie is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Yarris can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gracie won't let Yarris get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gracie cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Yarris really wants to buck Gracie off and get back to his feet.
Yarris looks gassed!
A nice elbow there by Gracie.
Gracie tries to control but Yarris wriggling away.
Gracie looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Yarris takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Yarris trying desperately to get to his feet.
Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gracie is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Yarris can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Gracie cracks Yarris with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gracie tries to control but Yarris wriggling away.

Yarris tries to buck Gracie off so he can stand up but Gracie has got his back now - this could be big trouble! He's slapped on a rear naked choke that looks really tight! Yarris falls backwards, slamming Gracie to the mat but Gracie holds on tight! Yarris is forced to tap and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ralph Gracie!
