PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chris Booger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Mcpaene (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chris Booger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joe Mcpaene!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Booger shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mcpaene but Mcpaene pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Mcpaene feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Mcpaene trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Mcpaene is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Booger doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Mcpaene not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Mcpaene wants to control from the top but Booger keeps moving.
Booger has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mcpaene trying to move into half guard but instead Booger has managed to sweep!
Booger tries to free his leg and advance position but Mcpaene is retaining full guard.
Mcpaene has Booger pulled in close to control his posture.

Booger drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mcpaene manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Booger has Mcpaene in his guard.

Booger looking for a guillotine here but Mcpaene defends easily.

Mcpaene passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Booger is not content to let Mcpaene control the position.

Mcpaene decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Mcpaene circles away from the clinch attempt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Booger shoots and misses

and Mcpaene counters with a single leg into guard. Booger didn't expect that.
Mcpaene stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Booger swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mcpaene wants to control from the top but Booger keeps moving.

Mcpaeneis looking to pass into half guard but Booger pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Booger is in guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Booger gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Mcpaene counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Mcpaene looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Booger is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mcpaene's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mcpaene's back!

Mcpaene passes Booger's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Joe Mcpaene showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Booger escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mcpaene gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mcpaene has gone for a leg lock! Booger slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mcpaene's guard.
Mcpaene lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Booger!
Mcpaene takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Booger tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Mcpaene stands up from mount. Strange move.
Booger shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

Booger wants to control but Mcpaene is keeping busy.

Mcpaene slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Booger tries to buck Mcpaene off but Mcpaene is having none of it.

Mcpaene wants to lay and pray for a moment but Booger keeps working.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Booger misses with a few strikes there.

Mcpaene is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Booger still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Booger has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Well Mcpaene has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
