Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tony Kakko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sho Kasugi! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kasugi lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Kakko looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Kasugi! Kakko jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Kasugi is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Kasugi and Kakko has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Kasugi stops Kakko from passing to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kakko is trying to get an arm triangle but Kasugi is defending well. Kasugi manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Kakko looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Kasugi wants to control but Kakko is keeping him busy. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Kasugi looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Sho Kasugi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Kakko takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Kasugi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Kasugi looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Kakko tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. A head kick from Kasugi lands but Kakko takes it in his stride.
It looks like Tony Kakko has been cut. Kasugi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kasugi throws a sloppy head kick and Kakko moves out of range easily. Kasugi thumps Kakko with a low kick. Kasugi leaves Kakko with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Kasugi moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kasugi throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kakko sees it coming and avoids it easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kasugi thows a body kick. Kakko tries to catch it but that hurt him. Kasugi throws a head kick that Kakko semi-blocks.
A head kick from Kasugi lands but Kakko takes it in his stride. Kasugi feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Kakko's calf. Nice body kick there by Kasugi. Kasugi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Kasugi moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Sho Kasugi dominated that round. The cut man is working on Tony Kakko's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Kakko closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kasugi to the mat! Kasugi manages to get full guard. Kakko drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kasugi looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kasugi looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kasugi! Kakko is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Kasugi is one step ahead and moves to full mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kasugi looking to secure an arm triangle but Kakko defends it well. Kasugi looking for a guillotine from mount but Kakko is having none of it. Kakko is looking to improve his position but Kasugi isn't that keen on the idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kasugi gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kasugi throws a leg kick but Kakko sees it coming and checks it nicely. Tony Kakko is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kasugi tries a head kick but it misses.
Kakko moves out of range of the leg kick from Kasugi. Kakko takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Kasugi throws the kick towards the body but Kakko avoids it. Kasugi throws a leg kick but Kakko sees it coming and checks it nicely. Kakko sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Kakko will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. Kasugi lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Kakko moves out of range as Kasugi throws a body kick.

Kasugi throws a sloppy head kick and Kakko moves out of range easily. Kakko fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Kasugi throws a front kick that sends Kakko stumbling back into the cage. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kasugi. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Kasugi lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kakko has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kakko and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Kakko has a takedown stuffed. Sho Kasugi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kasugi throws a low kick, looking for Kakko's leg but Kakko calmly moves out of range. Kasugi keeps Kakko at a distance using the push kick. Kakko is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kakko tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Both fighters circling a little - Kasugi finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Kakko avoids the head kick by Kasugi.
Kasugi throws a half hearted mid kick. Kakko looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Kasugi! Kakko goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Kasugi is on top in guard.

Kasugi is looking for a kimura but Kakko is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kasugi to get the leverage. Kasugi is looking to take a break and control but Kakko is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Kasugi passes to side control. Kasugi tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Kakko is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sho Kasugi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Tony Kakko's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Kasugi throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Kakko's head. Kakko shoots for a takedown but Kasugi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Kasugi is looking to chop away at Kakko's legs. Kasugi tries to land a front kick but Kakko steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Kasugi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Kakko. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kasugi turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Kasugi throws a head kick but Kakko moves out of range.

He turned his hip over nicely there. Kakko checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Kasugi explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Nice body kick from Kasugi. Kakko fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kasugi avoids it really well and circles away. A slapping leg kick lands for Kasugi.
Kakko steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Kasugi. That one must have hurt.

The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Sho Kasugi is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Kasugi throws a front kick that sends Kakko stumbling back into the cage. Kasugi lands a head kick. Kakko smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Kakko takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

And that's the end of the fight! Sho Kasugi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Kasugi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
