Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between nicola masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Shepard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). masters comes to the cage accompanied by enter the sandman. Shepard has chosen This Is Usually The Part Where People Scream as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Alyssa Summers and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
masters throws out a leg kick but Shepard moves out of range and masters only half commits.
Shepard tries to clinch up but masters circles away and keeps his distance.
Shepard throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Shepard misses with a head kick.
masters clinches with his opponent.
Shepard trying to stall but masters improves his position.
masters wants a takedown but no success here.
Shepard has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. masters avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Shepard tries to pull guard but masters won't allow it.
Shepard prevents masters from breaking the clinch.
Shepard can't break the clinch.
masters pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
masters shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shepard as he jumps to the side.
masters swats away the attempt to clinch by Shepard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
masters tries for a takedown but Shepard sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for nicola masters. That's going to take a lot out of him.

masters trying to control but Shepard is working from the bottom.
masters slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Shepard had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. masters is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Shepard Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take masters's back instead.
masters wants to escape the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Shepard is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften masters up.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shepard looks gassed!
I looks like Shepard might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Shepard is not going to allow masters to sit and survive in this position.
Shepard is looking to control masters but masters is wriggling around and keeping busy.

masters manages to reverse the position and now he's in Shepard's guard. Nice work there by masters.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Shepard has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but masters can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Shepard closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shepard is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and masters reverses the position - he's now on top in Shepard's guard.
masters won't allow Shepard to sweep him here.
Shepard tries to strike from the bottom.
Shepard is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
masters stops Shepard from standing up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
A head kick misses from masters.
masters tries for a takedown but Shepard circles away easily
and Shepard counters with a big head kick but masters shrugs it off.
Shepard drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Shepard landing strikes.
Shepard moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
masters sneaks back into half guard.
Shepard lands with a punch from half guard.

Shepard slips a nice elbow through masters's hands, connecting with masters's forehead.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Shepard is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so masters is just riding it out for now. Shepard eventually gives up the hold.
Shepard seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Shepard prevents masters from standing back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Shepard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!
Shepard throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around masters's waist but masters gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Shepard off to one side.

and Shepard counters by moving into the clinch.
masters is pressed up against the cage. Shepard has hold of a leg and is looking to drag masters down to the mat. masters avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Shepard is trying to defend against the ground and pound but masters scores with a couple of nice shots.
masters prevents Shepard from standing back up.
Shepard is holding on to half guard well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

nicola masters overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
masters is nestled in close to Shepard, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
masters is just content to waste time from the top position. Shepard takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Despite being in the dominant position, James Shepard just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Shepard pushes masters off and scrambles back to his feet.

and Shepard counters with a shoot takedown. masters fights it but they end up in guard.

James Shepard comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Shepard has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
