Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Columbo Gatti and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ruffenski napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Smith stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Smith steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ruffenski.
Smith shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ruffenski but Ruffenski pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Smith is looking to clinch.
Ruffenski throws a series of strikes that have Smith backpedaling.
It looks like Gordon Smith has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smith has gone for a leg lock! Ruffenski slips out almost immediately though and dives into Smith's guard.
Smith is working an open guard so Ruffenski takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Smith decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ruffenski's guard.
Ruffenski is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Ruffenski tries to break free but Smith pushes him back against the cage.

Smith looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ruffenski stands and steps away. Smith gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Ruffenski throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Smith is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ruffenski is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ruffenski has escaped and now he's on top!

and Ruffenski counters with a three punch combo that has Smith backing up. Smith nods at Ruffenski to acknowledge the strikes.

Smith moves into range and clinches up with Ruffenski.

and Smith counters with a takedown into side control.
Ruffenski tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Smith presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Ruffenski is squirming around, avoiding Smith's attempts to control the action.
Ruffenski is trying to reverse the position but instead Smith has taken his back - oops!

Smith working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
