Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Achilles Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Bowness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Thomas Bowness enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Achilles Mason! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thomas Bowness! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Mason. Bowness changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mason looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Bowness is looking to take a break and control but Mason is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. An elbow from Bowness crashes against the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Mason prevents Bowness from improving his position. Mason is looking for a kimura but Bowness is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mason to get the leverage. Mason trying to control the action but Bowness is working from the bottom.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Mason stuffs the takedown. Mason throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bowness. Bowness slips under a jab from Mason. Bowness will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Mason throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Mason misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bowness.
Achilles Mason is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Bowness gets a takedown into half guard. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Mason is staying active underneath Bowness, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mason looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Mason is breathing heavily. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bowness connects with a nice short shot to Mason's temple. Bowness working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Mason's thigh. Mason counters though and makes it back to full guard. Bowness working some strikes from top position. Bowness stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mason swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bowness preventing the sweep.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Bowness postures up in Mason's guard and throws a big left but Mason blocks it. Bowness working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Bowness avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Bowness with a flurry of punches that miss. Bowness loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Mason looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Bowness is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Mason keeping moving, preventing Bowness from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thomas Bowness dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Bowness shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mason is trying to defend but Bowness finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Bowness thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Mason makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mason. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bowness working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Bowness keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mason's head. Bowness slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Bowness working the ground and pound. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mason struggling a bit here.

Bowness landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Bowness wants to take a breather but Mason is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mason has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bowness is working away from the top position though. Mason looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Mason avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bowness. Mason is looking to improve his position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Bowness feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Bowness is looking to work some ground and pound but Mason has wrist control.

Bowness wants to pass the guard but Mason is keeping the position. Bowness stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Mason has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Bowness manages to get his head free but now Mason has transitioned to an armbar! Bowness grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Mason! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
