PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Machete Juarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoo Doss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Juarez might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Remember the Name. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Machete Juarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yoo Doss!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A cross from Juarez lands.
Doss is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Juarez looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Doss thumps Juarez with a low kick.
Juarez misses with a straight left.

Doss has closed the distance and engaged Juarez in a clinch.

Doss is trying to trip Juarez. He has hold of a leg but Juarez is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Doss persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Doss wants to control from the top but Juarez keeps moving.
Doss is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Juarez can't keep his opponent in guard - Doss advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Doss drops an elbow to the side of Juarez's head.
Juarez is not content to let Doss control the position.
Doss takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Doss working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Still in half guard, Doss seems content to control.

Doss is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Doss's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Doss decides to stand and escape the position.

Juarez gets caught flat footed, as Doss shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Juarez keeping moving, preventing Doss from controlling successfully.

Despite being in the dominant position, Yoo Doss just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Doss moves into the clinch successfully.

Doss pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Doss clinches up against the cage.

Doss wants the takedown. Juarez is fighting it off but Doss persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Juarez's guard against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Doss gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Doss closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Doss lands in his opponent's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Juarez is trying to control the position but Doss postures up.

Doss forces his way into half guard.
Doss is nestled in close to Juarez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Doss is trying to control. Juarez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Juarez has hold of Doss's hands but Doss slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Doss in particular looking to stall.
Doss wants to pass to mount but Juarez is defending the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Juarez working hard to break the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Doss jumps guard.

Doss is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Doss is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Doss manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Doss feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Juarez can't keep his opponent in guard - Doss advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Juarez is pressing down on Doss's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Doss stands up over Juarez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Juarez is working an open guard so Doss takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yoo Doss dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Doss gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Doss gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Doss seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Doss must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Doss stands up and waves to Juarez to follow him.

Doss wants to control from the top but Juarez keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Juarez looking for a sweep. Not yet Juarez, not yet.

Juarez looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Doss has picked Juarez up and slammed him! Juarez can't keep hold of the triangle and Doss manages to pass to side control!

Doss wants to control but Juarez is keeping him busy.
You can see the frustration on Juarez's face as Doss controls the position.

Doss tries to move into full mount but can't pass Juarez's legs.

Juarez is working to avoid the ground and pound but Doss connects with a decent elbow.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Juarez walks into a left hand.

Doss shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Juarez's guard.
Juarez wants to sweep but no luck.

Juarez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Doss is aware though and is defending well.
Doss wants to control from the top but Juarez keeps moving.
Doss stays in close to Juarez's body and controls the position.
Let's hope that Doss has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Doss stands and steps away. Juarez gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Doss closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Juarez to the mat! Juarez manages to get full guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Doss. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Juarez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Yoo Doss showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Juarez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Doss circles away quickly and effectively.

Doss shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Juarez defends it nicely.
Machete Juarez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoo Doss.
Juarez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Doss tries to avoid it but Juarez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Doss to the ground. Doss escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Doss is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Juarez will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Juarez stuffs the takedown.
Juarez ducks under a wild hook from Doss.

Juarez throws a series of punches but Doss avoids them all with ease.

Doss is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Juarez's half guard.
Doss is looking to take a break and control but Juarez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Doss tries to stand and escape but Juarez is controlling the position.
Doss seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Juarez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Yoo Doss is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Yoo Doss comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Doss has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
