PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Bridge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gonzalez has chosen eye of the tiger as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Diego Gonzalez enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Bridge!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Diego Gonzalez!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bridge tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Bridge moves into range and clinches up with Gonzalez.
Gonzalez has Bridge pressed against the cage, preventing Bridge from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Bridge tries to pull guard but Gonzalez holds him up against the cage and eventually Bridge drops back down to his feet.
Gonzalez fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Bridge breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Bridge has managed to clinch.
Gonzalez is pressed up against the cage. Bridge has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Gonzalez down to the mat. Gonzalez avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Gonzalez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gonzalez blocks the strikes from Bridge.

Bridge is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Bridge avoids the head kick by Gonzalez.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bridge is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Gonzalez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bridge does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

and Gonzalez counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Bridge working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gonzalez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gonzalez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gonzalez is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Bridge looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Bridge working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gonzalez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gonzalez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bridge is looking for a triangle but Gonzalez pushes his legs off easily.

Gonzalez is trying to control the action in half guard but Bridge is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Bridge tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Gonzalez is landing with some decent strikes but Bridge is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Bridge's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Gonzalez looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Bridge is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Gonzalez is trying to drag Bridge to the mat but Bridge just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Bridge gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Gonzalez.
John Bridge has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Diego Gonzalez.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Bridge moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Bridge ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Bridge no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bridge is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Gonzalez rolls with it to try and escape but Bridge cranks on the arm and Gonzalez is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
