PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between El Chingon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dunch Henry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, El Chingon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dunch Henry!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksandr Martynov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chingon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Henry lands a jab-cross combination.
Henry lands with an uppercut that bounces Chingon off the cage and back into rage.
Chingon shoots in looking for a takedown. Henry tries to sprawl out of it but Chingon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Henry manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Henry throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Henry fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Henry fails to land with a series of punches.

Henry darts in and clinches Chingon up against the cage.
Henry lands a damaging elbow.
Henry gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Chingon.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Henry is wriggling around but Chingon manages to pass to half guard.

Henry pushes Chingon off looking to stand but Chingon dives back in and keeps control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chingon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Chingon decides to stand and escape the position.

Chingon seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee stands the fighters back up. El Chingon just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Henry misses with a few strikes there.

Chingon throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Henry was covering up waiting for the punch and Chingon finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Chingon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Henry is looking to stand up but Chingon isn't so interested in that idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that El Chingon will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Chingon counters with a single leg into guard. Henry didn't expect that.
Henry can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Chingon controls the pace.

Chingon seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Henry for as long as he can get away with.
Henry wants to stand but Chingon is controlling the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Henry is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Henry is breathing heavily.

Chingon drops back, looking for a kneebar! Henry looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Henry looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Henry!
Chingon manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Still in half guard, Chingon seems content to control.

Chingon tries to pass the half guard into mount. Henry knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Chingon is looking to advance position but Henry won't allow it.

Chingon fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

El Chingon dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Henry keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

El Chingon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Henry throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Dunch Henry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Henry is looking to clinch.
Henry lands with a right hand.

and Chingon counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Chingon.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Henry fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Chingon takes a shot to the head.
Henry has had enough of the clinch but Chingon keeps him there for the moment.
Henry takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Chingon as Henry tries to tie him up.

Henry gets underhooks to prevent Chingon's takedown attempt.

Chingon has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Henry is trying to keep an underhook but Chingon manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Henry tries to buck Chingon off but he can't manage it.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for El Chingon. That's going to take a lot out of him.

El Chingon showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chingon, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
