Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Georges Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Murphy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges Pierre! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pierre shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Murphy defends it nicely. Murphy changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pierre looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Murphy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pierre keeps working. You can see the frustration on Pierre's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Pierre sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Pierre is trying to stand up here but Murphy is controlling him well. Murphy is figuring out what he wants to do next. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Murphy wants to take a breather but Pierre is having none of it. Murphy tries to pass to full mount but Pierre defends it. Pierre makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Murphy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Pierre is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Pierre is looking to control Murphy's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pierre avoid being mounted? Murphy sitting and controlling from the half guard. Pierre manages to escape and get back to his feet! Pierre with a poor takedown and Murphy counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pierre won't be happy with that. Pierre looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pierre is trying to control Murphy's posture but Murphy avoids it. Pierre tries to get back to half guard but can't. Murphy trying to control the position but Pierre is working away. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pierre can do anything to dispel that myth. Pierre is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Murphy tries to advance to mount but Pierre denies him. Pierre struggling a bit here. Murphy content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Murphy has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Murphy has Pierre up against the cage in a clinch.
Murphy changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Pierre fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Murphy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Murphy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Pierre is trying to escape the mount.
Murphy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Pierre can't escape the position.
Murphy goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Pierre is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Murphy wants to stand up but Pierre is controlling him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Pierre is fighting to break Murphy's control of his arms but Murphy is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Pierre looking to sit in guard and control but Murphy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Pierre has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Murphy off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Pierre doesn't succeed with the takedown and Murphy counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pierre's guard now. Pierre being controlled here, momentarily. John Murphy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Murphy seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Pierre for as long as he can get away with. Pierre is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Murphy is controlling him. Murphy's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The referee stands the fighters back up. John Murphy just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Murphy closes the distance and lands a one-two.

The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Pierre is wriggling around trying to escape.

John Murphy dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Pierre gets caught flat footed, as Murphy shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Murphy has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pierre is proving hard to escape from. Pierre keeping moving, preventing Murphy from controlling successfully. Pierre can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Murphy controls the pace. Pierre is pulling down on Murphy's head to control his posture. Pierre is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Murphy trying to control but Pierre is working from the bottom. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Murphy is fighting to break Pierre's control of his arms but Pierre is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Murphy wants to pass the guard but Pierre is keeping the position. Pierre is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Murphy looking to pass the guard.

Murphy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Murphy in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Murphy wants to control from the top but Pierre keeps moving.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
