Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Niko Hilavitku! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kamazuki Munahiki! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Munahiki ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hilavitku moves away. Munahiki misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hilavitku.
Munahiki scores with a jab to the jaw. Munahiki fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hilavitku looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Munahiki connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Hilavitku shoots in but Munahiki avoids the takedown attempt easily. Munahiki closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Munahiki lands in his opponent's guard. Hilavitku is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Munahiki forces his way into half guard. Munahiki is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hilavitku is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Munahiki pulls his head out easily. Munahiki stalling. This has been an exciting period of action! Munahiki trying to control the action but Hilavitku is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hilavitku won't allow Munahiki to pass to mount. The fighters are battling for position here. Hilavitku manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Munahiki got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hilavitku has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Munahiki has managed to get both his arms back between Hilavitku's legs - danger averted. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Munahiki slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Hilavitku has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Munahiki can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Munahiki drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Munahiki jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Munahiki pushes down on Hilavitku's leg and manages to get into half guard. Munahiki is keen to just control but Hilavitku is a slippery customer.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hilavitku is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Munahiki pulls his head out easily. Munahiki not doing much here.
Munahiki is looking for a kimura but Hilavitku is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Munahiki to get the leverage. Hilavitku regains full guard. Nicely done. Hilavitku manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Munahiki is looking to improve his position but Hilavitku isn't that keen on the idea. Munahiki has given up his back here. Will Hilavitku look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Hilavitku is working for a rear naked choke. Munahiki is not defending it well and Hilavitku has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Munahiki refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Munahiki's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Niko Hilavitku! Niko Hilavitku retains his super heavyweight title!
