Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Klaus VonMueller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pepe Rojas! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed right hand from VonMueller misses the target. Klaus VonMueller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. VonMueller throws the left hand but Rojas avoids the punch easily. VonMueller looks to score with a jab to the body but Rojas is just out of range. VonMueller stuffs the takedown. VonMueller throws a hook to the side of Rojas's head but Rojas sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. VonMueller throws a series of punches but Rojas moves out of range. VonMueller misses with a low kick. VonMueller misses with a looping left. VonMueller tries to work over Rojas's front leg with a kick but Rojas checks it. VonMueller just misses with a punch to the body.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. VonMueller looks to throw the jab but Rojas is out of range. Rojas steps to the side to avoid the strikes from VonMueller. VonMueller tests Rojas's chin there with a solid looking shot. VonMueller waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Rojas. Klaus VonMueller is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rojas gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. A big right from VonMueller misses. Rojas fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. VonMueller sprawls well initially but Rojas persists and gets the takedown into half guard. VonMueller is doing well to control the position and prevent Rojas from advancing to side control. VonMueller gets full guard. Rojas wants to pass the guard but VonMueller is keeping the position. VonMueller is pulling down on Rojas's head to control his posture.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rojas trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Rojas prevents VonMueller from getting back to his feet. Rojas trying to control but VonMueller is working from the bottom. Rojas pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. VonMueller is keeping the position for now. Rojas is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! VonMueller is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! VonMueller has escaped and now he's on top!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rojas lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for VonMueller! VonMueller is wriggling around trying to escape.
Rojas is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But VonMueller has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from VonMueller! VonMueller postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. VonMueller preventing the sweep. Rojas had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. VonMueller defends it easily. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Rojas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Rojas wants to hit a switch here but VonMueller passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Rojas there! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rojas tries to improve his position but instead VonMueller has taken his back! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Klaus VonMueller dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
VonMueller misses with a hook. VonMueller misses with a two punch combination.
VonMueller lands with a right hand. VonMueller throws a series of punches but Rojas avoids them all with ease. VonMueller misses with a body kick. Rojas ducks under a wild hook from VonMueller. VonMueller slips a jab from Rojas. Rojas closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Rojas is trying to get an arm triangle but VonMueller is defending well. VonMueller is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Rojas is controlling him well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rojas swings around for an armbar but VonMueller sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Rojas's guard. VonMueller got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rojas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, VonMueller has managed to get both his arms back between Rojas's legs - danger averted. Rojas is breathing heavily. VonMueller preventing the sweep. VonMueller has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rojas is proving hard to escape from. Rojas is looking for a triangle here but VonMueller uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Rojas tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but VonMueller wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. VonMueller decides to take the fight back to the feet. VonMueller throws a chopping leg kick but Rojas manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Rojas moves out of range as VonMueller strikes. Rojas keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from VonMueller. A slow jab from VonMueller misses its intended target. Rojas shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. VonMueller scores with a crisp jab that stopped Rojas in his tracks. Rojas uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by VonMueller.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Rojas takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. The fighters circle momentarily. VonMueller darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Nice defenses there by Rojas. Rojas will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Rojas is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in VonMueller's half guard. VonMueller is pressing down on Rojas's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. VonMueller avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Rojas trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Rojas trying to control but VonMueller is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rojas working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Rojas looking to sit in guard and control but VonMueller gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Rojas looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! VonMueller has picked Rojas up and slammed him! Rojas can't keep hold of the triangle and VonMueller manages to pass to side control! VonMueller decides to stand back up. VonMueller steps back and let's Rojas get back to his feet. VonMueller moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. VonMueller throws a right and a left that Rojas avoids nicely. VonMueller misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Klaus VonMueller dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Rojas gets a takedown into half guard. VonMueller is staying active underneath Rojas, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rojas is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Rojas trying to pass the guard but VonMueller defending well. Rojas is sneakily working for an arm triangle but VonMueller sees it coming and defends easily. Rojas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rojas working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on VonMueller's thigh. VonMueller counters though and makes it back to full guard. Rojas drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but VonMueller manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rojas has VonMueller in his guard. Rojas had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. VonMueller defends it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. VonMueller stays in close to Rojas's body and controls the position. VonMueller's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Rojas looking to hit a scissor sweep but VonMueller is one step ahead there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rojas keeping moving, preventing VonMueller from controlling successfully. Rojas is looking for a triangle but VonMueller pushes his legs off easily.
VonMueller stands up from guard. Let's bang! Rojas staying out of range there. VonMueller throws a hook to the side of Rojas's head but Rojas sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Rojas slips under a jab. VonMueller throws out a loose jab but Rojas uses good head movement to avoid it. VonMueller misses with an uppercut. VonMueller misses with a head kick.
A jab from VonMueller misses. VonMueller throws a chopping leg kick but Rojas manages to avoid taking any serious damage. VonMueller thows a body shot but no joy. Rojas moves out of range of the strikes. Rojas slips a straight right by VonMueller. Pepe Rojas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rojas moves out of range of the body kick. Rojas shoots for a takedown but VonMueller saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Rojas scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Klaus VonMueller is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Rojas uses good head movement to avoid the hook from VonMueller.
And that's the end of the fight! Pepe Rojas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well VonMueller has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
