Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Romulo Ribeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Tsuha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryan Tsuha!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tsuha closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Ribeiro gets a takedown into half guard.

Ribeiro goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Ribeiro shoots in for a takedown but Tsuha shows good takedown defense.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ribeiro takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Tsuha tries to lock up and control but Ribeiro gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ribeiro decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Ribeiro seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Ribeiro thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Tsuha's head.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ribeiro swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Ribeiro shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Ribeiro slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Ribeiro remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

You get the feeling that Tsuha really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ribeiro, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
