Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ray Parantainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Kerr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kerr is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Them Bones. Mark Kerr has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ray Parantainen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Kerr!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kerr looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Parantainen wants to improve his position but Kerr is controlling well.

Parantainen is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kerr pulls his head out easily.
Kerr slips a nice elbow through Parantainen's hands, connecting with Parantainen's forehead.
Parantainen is trying to get back to full guard.
Parantainen gets full guard.
Parantainen preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Parantainen looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Kerr got a little sloppy there for a moment and Parantainen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kerr has managed to get both his arms back between Parantainen's legs - danger averted.
Kerr looking to pass the guard.

Kerr avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Parantainen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Kerr stands up from Parantainen's guard - Kerr perhaps looking for a knockout.
Mark Kerr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Parantainen misses with a takedown attempt

and Kerr counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Parantainen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kerr is one step ahead there.
Parantainen can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kerr controls the pace.
Parantainen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kerr manages to get himself to full guard.

Parantainen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Parantainen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Kerr is looking to stand up but Parantainen isn't so interested in that idea.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kerr pushes Parantainen off and gets back to his feet.

Parantainen scores a takedown into full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kerr squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kerr can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kerr looks gassed!

Parantainen is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kerr can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kerr tries to buck Parantainen off but he can't manage it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Parantainen forces the positional change into back control.

Parantainen looking for the choke but no joy.

Parantainen working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Kerr is trying to get back to his feet but Parantainen has full control of the position and if anything, Kerr has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Parantainen is persistently looking for the submission but Kerr is defending it well.

Parantainen is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Kerr defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Kerr is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Parantainen working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

Parantainen is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Kerr has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Parantainen has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Kerr taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Parantainen doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ray Parantainen!
