Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Hebert! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ronald Murvis! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hebert keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Murvis. Hebert drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hebert slows the pace down. Hebert is trying to get an arm triangle but Murvis is defending well. Hebert is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Murvis has escaped the position, nice work there. Hebert lands a few punches from side control. Hebert cracks Murvis with a big right hand but Murvis just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Hebert trying to control the position but Murvis is working away. Murvis wants to get back to his feet. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Murvis is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Hebert has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Murvis defending against the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hebert lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Murvis down.
Murvis tries to escape but Hebert is in control. Murvis is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Murvis is not content to let Hebert control the position. Murvis is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Hebert has just dragged him back down to the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Hebert dodges the punch combination from Murvis.
Murvis misses with a straight left. Hebert showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Murvis.
Ronald Murvis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Murvis lands with an overhand left.
It looks like Sam Hebert has been cut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Hebert slips under a jab from Murvis. Murvis connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Murvis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Hebert steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Murvis. Hebert avoids the head kick by Murvis.
Murvis throws a combination. Hebert tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Murvis connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hebert's hands. A slow jab from Murvis misses its intended target. Hebert gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Murvis.
Hebert is rocked! Murvis finds Hebert's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Hebert flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Murvis lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Hebert will be OK.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ronald Murvis!
