The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gabriel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Gabriel misses with a kick to the body.
Jefferson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jefferson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gabriel paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Gabriel swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Jefferson is now in Gabriel's guard. A big mistake from Gabriel there, giving up the dominant position!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Gabriel postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jefferson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gabriel, into his guard.

Gabriel should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to George Jefferson.
I think Gabriel has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
