Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Jefferson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erich Gabriel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gabriel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Gabriel misses with a kick to the body.
Jefferson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Jefferson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gabriel paws at him with a jab and circles away. Gabriel looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Gabriel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Gabriel wants to stand but Jefferson is controlling his posture from full guard. Gabriel wants to control from the top but Jefferson keeps moving. Gabriel wanted to stand there but Jefferson had control of the position. Gabriel trying to move into half guard but instead Jefferson has managed to sweep!
That's one minute gone in the round. Gabriel tries to land a sweep but no joy. Jefferson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Jefferson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Gabriel wants to get back to his feet but Jefferson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Jefferson moves out of range of the strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Jefferson moves in looking to clinch but Gabriel pushes him off. Jefferson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Gabriel counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jefferson! Gabriel looking to ground and pound but Jefferson is blocking nicely. Gabriel swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Jefferson is now in Gabriel's guard. A big mistake from Gabriel there, giving up the dominant position! Jefferson is breathing heavily. Gabriel is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jefferson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jefferson wants to control from the top but Gabriel keeps moving. Gabriel working a defensive guard here.
Jefferson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Jefferson wants to stand but Gabriel has a closed guard, so he can't escape. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jefferson tries to free his leg and advance position but Gabriel is retaining full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Jefferson passes easily into side control. Nice work. Jefferson wants to control but Gabriel is keeping him busy.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Jefferson looks to clinch and Gabriel counters with a shoot takedown. Jefferson fights it but they end up in guard. Gabriel wants to pass the guard but Jefferson is keeping the position. Gabriel postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jefferson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gabriel, into his guard. Jefferson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Erich Gabriel dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Jefferson gets in close and instigates a clinch. Gabriel tries to stall but Jefferson uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Jefferson has clasped his hands together around Gabriel's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Gabriel should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Gabriel is trying to control Jefferson's posture but Jefferson avoids it. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gabriel can do anything to dispel that myth. Gabriel is looking to reverse the position. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Gabriel has eaten all the pies! Gabriel is not content to let Jefferson control the position. Gabriel is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gabriel wants to control but Jefferson postures up. Gabriel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jefferson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jefferson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gabriel keeps working. Gabriel tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jefferson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Jefferson wants to control but Gabriel is keeping him busy.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Gabriel throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Jefferson fails in his attempt to clinch. Gabriel shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jefferson defends it nicely. Jefferson fails with an attempt to clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Jefferson shoots in for a takedown but Gabriel shows good takedown defense. Jefferson doesn't manage to clinch there - Gabriel circles away.
George Jefferson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jefferson tries to clinch and Gabriel counters with a takedown into side control. Jefferson can't do much from the bottom here. Gabriel is trying to move to mount but Jefferson reverses beautifully and ends up in Gabriel's guard. Jefferson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Gabriel working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jefferson.

Jefferson clinches but Gabriel breaks the clinch and Gabriel counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gabriel. Jefferson has a closed guard, preventing Gabriel from standing up. Gabriel wants to stand and escape but instead Jefferson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Jefferson is working Gabriel over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Erich Gabriel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
The fight stays on the outside here - Jefferson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. George Jefferson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Jefferson closes the distance looking to clinch and Gabriel holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Jefferson lands an elbow just above Gabriel 's eye. Jefferson putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Gabriel in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Jefferson lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
It looks like Erich Gabriel has been cut. Jefferson tries for a takedown. No joy.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Gabriel keeping moving, preventing Jefferson from controlling successfully. Jefferson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gabriel is keeping the position for now. George Jefferson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Gabriel trying to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jefferson trying to control the position from guard on top but Gabriel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Jefferson wants to clinch and Gabriel counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Gabriel wants to control from the top but Jefferson keeps moving. Jefferson wants to sweep here but Gabriel controlling him for the moment.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to George Jefferson. I think Gabriel has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
