Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Emilo Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chavez comes into the arena with Slipknot---Psychosocial blaring out of the sound system. Franklin has chosen Mudvayne - Not Falling as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Emilo Chavez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, George Franklin! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Emerson Jorge and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chavez rushes Franklin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Franklin is trying to trip Chavez. He has hold of a leg but Chavez is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Franklin persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Chavez had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Franklin is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Chavez Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Franklin's back instead. Chavez doesn't have the hooks in and Franklin manages to turn into his guard.
Franklin forces his way into half guard. Franklin is looking for a kimura here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Franklin preventing the sweep. Franklin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Chavez is keeping the position for now. Franklin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Franklin looks gassed! Franklin won't allow Chavez to sweep him here. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Chavez closes the distance and clinches up with Franklin, looking for a takedown. Chavez pushes Franklin against the cage but Franklin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. A jab lands there for Franklin.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Chavez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Franklin manages to work his way to half guard, despite Chavez's best efforts. Franklin misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Franklin actively working from the bottom here. Chavez is nestled in close to Franklin, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Franklin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Franklin avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Chavez. Franklin is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Chavez pulls his head out easily. Chavez is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Chavez looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Franklin is refusing to be controlled, as Chavez sits in half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Franklin tries to bum rush Chavez with a series of wild strikes but Chavez uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Chavez looks to land a combination but Franklin avoids it well. Chavez gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Franklin drops back looking for a leg! Chavez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Chavez manages to kick Franklin off! Franklin jumps back into Chavez's guard. Franklin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Chavez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Franklin's guard. Franklin keeping moving, preventing Chavez from controlling successfully. Franklin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Chavez's waist but Chavez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Franklin off to one side. Chavez shoots in but no luck this time. Franklin wants to clinch and Chavez counters with a lovely shot to the body. Chavez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Franklin tries to bench press Chavez off him but Chavez keeps the position. Chavez remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Franklin takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Chavez is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Franklin is controlling him well. Chavez is not content to let Franklin control the position. Franklin tries for a kimura but Chavez is defending well. Franklin prevents Chavez from escaping the position. Chavez prevents Franklin from moving into mount. Franklin working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Franklin is putting a hurting on Chavez here, landing some big shots from side control. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Franklin tries to advance position but instead Chavez slips a leg back in to half guard. Chavez moves into full guard.
Chavez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Franklin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Chavez moves into range and clinches up with Franklin. Chavez successfully pulls guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Emilo Chavez will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Franklin trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. George Franklin has got the better of the ground game so far. Chavez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Franklin won't allow Chavez to sweep him here. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Franklin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Franklin takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Franklin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Chavez wants to get back to his feet but Franklin is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Chavez has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Franklin off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Franklin throws a chopping leg kick but Chavez manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Franklin has his takedown stuffed and Chavez counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Chavez.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Franklin is standing up over Chavez. Chavez looks to escape but Franklin dives into side control.
Chavez regains half guard. Franklin seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Chavez is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
