Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jethro Tull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tull comes to the cage accompanied by Aqualung - Jethro Tull. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jethro Tull!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Scott Smith!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Donald Grub and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tull shoots in for a double leg but Smith sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Smith.

Smith drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Tull is looking to reverse the position.
Tull is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Smith is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Tull doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Smith.

Smith wants to control from the top but Tull keeps moving.
Tull is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Tull wants to improve his position but Smith is controlling well.
Smith wants to pass to mount but Tull is defending the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Tull is looking to control Smith's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tull avoid being mounted?

Smith wants to control from the top but Tull keeps moving.

Tull tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Smith drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Smith avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Smith throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Tull trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tull swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Smith counters with a nice double leg into side control. Tull won't be happy with that.

Smith postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Smith moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Tull wants to control but Smith postures up.
Smith tries to advance to mount but can't.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A head kick misses from Smith.
Tull misses with a takedown

and Smith counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Smith is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tull defends it well.
Smith wants to control but Tull is keeping him busy.
Smith is just content to waste time from the top position. Tull takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Smith wants to get up but he can't break Tull's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Tull has his foot on Smith's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Smith works his way back into a safe position though.
Tull tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tull swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Scott Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Nice sprawl there from Tull as Smith shoots in.

Tull looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Jethro Tull has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scott Smith.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tull pushes off an throws an elbow but Smith leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Tull turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Tull manages to end up in side control.
Smith is trying to buck Tull off.
You can see the frustration on Smith's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Tull tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tull has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jethro Tull.
I think Smith has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
