The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramirez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Zilva but Zilva pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Wanderlay Zilva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Juan Ramirez.

Ramirez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Zilva's waist but Zilva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ramirez off to one side.

Zilva changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ramirez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ramirez is not content to let Zilva control the position.
The referee asks Zilva politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Zilva prefers to stall for the moment though.

Zilva is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ramirez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ramirez srikes from the bottom but he's lost position and has given up his back.

Ramirez tries to escape but Zilva has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Zilva has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
