Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Gonzales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rogue Wave (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Gonzales has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Gonzales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rogue Wave!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wave shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Wave is working for a kimura but Gonzales is defending it quite comfortably.

Wave is looking for a kimura here.
Gonzales tries to roll over but Wave keeps him under control.
Gonzales won't allow Wave to pass to mount.
Wave wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gonzales keeps working.
Gonzales is looking to control Wave's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gonzales avoid being mounted?

Wave is working for a submission of some sort.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gonzales trying to control from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Wave has picked Gonzales up - he's going for a ride! Wave dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Wave looks gassed!
Gonzales gets full guard.

Wave is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gonzales is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gonzales has escaped and now he's on top!
Gonzales wants to pass the guard but Wave is keeping the position.

Gonzales content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Gonzales got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wave has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gonzales has managed to get both his arms back between Wave's legs - danger averted.

Wave is looking to control Gonzales's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wave avoid being mounted?
Gonzales wants to free his trapped foot but Wave is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Gonzales sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Wave defending well though.
Gonzales is thwarting Wave's attempts to control the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Wave looking for a sweep. Not yet Wave, not yet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Gonzales leaves Wave with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Wave fails to land the takedown.
Gonzales shoots in and drives through. Wave sprawls well.

Wave shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gonzales is trying to defend but Wave finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Wave seems to be working for a kimura but Gonzales defends the submission attempt.
Gonzales slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rogue Wave dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Wave feints and as Gonzales raises his hands in defense, Wave changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Gonzales has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wave can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Wave wants to control from the top but Gonzales keeps moving.
Gonzales looking for a sweep. Not yet Gonzales, not yet.

Wave drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wave jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Wave pushes down on Gonzales's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Wave is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gonzales is just riding it out for now. Wave eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Wave is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gonzales is just riding it out for now. Wave eventually gives up the hold.
Gonzales is trying to maintain the position but Wave is very close to passing his half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wave prevents Gonzales from improving his position.
Wave drops an elbow to the side of Gonzales's head.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Wave bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Gonzales is trying to control Wave's posture but Wave avoids it.
Gonzales takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Gonzales is looking to regain half guard here but Wave keeps moving and retains side control.

Wave is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gonzales knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Gonzales wants to get back to his feet.

Wave looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Wave misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Wave tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Wave postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Wave trying to control the action but Gonzales is working from the bottom.
Gonzales is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Gonzales tries to roll over but Wave keeps him under control.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Wave closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rogue Wave showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Wave decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Wave tries to clinch there but Gonzales circles away.
Gonzales is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Rogue Wave is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
A head kick by Gonzales misses

Rogue Wave comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Wave winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
