PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lyoto Andres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dude Dudenstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lyoto Andres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dude Dudenstein!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Reed Andrews and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Andres takes the fight into the clinch.

Andres's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Andres changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dudenstein looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Dudenstein wants to get back to his feet but Andres is dominant here and he's now got Dudenstein's back!
Andres is controlling the position but Dudenstein somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
Andres seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Andres not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Andres wants to pass the guard but Dudenstein is defending well.

Dudenstein makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Dudenstein looks gassed!

Andres clinches up with Dudenstein and pushes him back against the cage.

Dudenstein tries to circle away but Andres has him pinned against the cage.

Andres has picked Dudenstein up - he's going for a ride! Andres dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Andres missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Dudenstein is trying to stand up here but Andres is controlling him well.

Andres is taking a breather. Dudenstein says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Andres lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Dudenstein pushes Andres off looking to stand but Andres dives back in and keeps control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Andres!
Andres is looking to slow Dudenstein down with leg kicks.

Andres clinches.

Andres escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dudenstein looks to land a combination but Andres avoids it well.

Andres shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Andres can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dudenstein is looking to escape.
Andres lands a big elbow.
Andres raining down shots from the mount!

Dudenstein wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Andres takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Andres wants to finish this one by submission but Dudenstein is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Andres.
Dudenstein is trying to stand.
Andres with a couple of short strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Andres instigates a clinch.

Andres is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Dudenstein can't fight it off and eventually Andres manages to take the fight to the floor. Dudenstein looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Dudenstein wants to get back to his feet but Andres is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

and Andres counters with a shoot takedown. Dudenstein fights it but they end up in guard.

Dudenstein throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Andres.

Dudenstein gets caught flat footed, as Andres shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Andres prevents Dudenstein from getting back to his feet.
Dudenstein is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Andres has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Dudenstein swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Andres tries to clinch up but Dudenstein circles away and keeps his distance.
Andres rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dudenstein moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Dudenstein will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dudenstein throws a right hand that Andres ducks under and follows up with a left that Andres also avoids with ease.
Andres fails to land the takedown.

Andres shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Dudenstein is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Dudenstein trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Andres accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Andres wants to control from the top but Dudenstein keeps moving.
Andres is really struggling to control Dudenstein but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Dudenstein's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Andres lands a big shot there that rocks Dudenstein but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
