PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Wade Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abodohl Makadabi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Edwards comes into the arena with tie me down blaring out of the sound system. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wade Edwards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Abodohl Makadabi!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edwards keeps the fight on the outside.
Makadabi misses with a body shot.

Edwards shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Makadabi is trying to stand back up but Edwards is controlling him

Makadabi manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Edwards shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Makadabi's guard.

Makadabi is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Edwards has Makadabi pressed against the cage, preventing Makadabi from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Edwards is trying to break the clinch but Makadabi is controlling him.
Makadabi changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Edwards fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Edwards throws a right hand that Makadabi ducks under and follows up with a left that Makadabi also avoids with ease.
Edwards throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Makadabi throws an overhand right that lands on Edwards's shoulder, as Edwards tries to avoid the shot.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Makadabi.
Makadabi throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Edwards misses with a two punch combination.
Makadabi throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Edwards feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Makadabi can do anything to dispel that myth.
Edwards wants to pass the guard but Makadabi is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Abodohl Makadabi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Edwards shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Makadabi's guard.
Edwards throws a strike but Makadabi rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

I looks like Makadabi might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Makadabi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Edwards avoids it really well and circles away.

Makadabi dodges the ground and pound from Edwards.
Edwards has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Edwards creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Makadabi sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Edwards counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Edwards misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Makadabi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Edwards keeps the fight on the outside.
Makadabi shoots in for a double leg but Edwards sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Wade Edwards is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Makadabi wants to stand and escape but instead Edwards has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Makadabi is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Edwards's half guard.
Makadabi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Edwards. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Makadabi is looking to take a break and control but Edwards is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Makadabi is just content to waste time from the top position. Edwards takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Abodohl Makadabi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Edwards gets caught flat footed, as Makadabi shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Edwards is looking to stand up but Makadabi isn't so interested in that idea.

I would just about give that final round to Abodohl Makadabi.
I think Makadabi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
