Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Silva Alves! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tom Sherk! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Donald Grub and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sherk shoots for a double leg takedown but Alves sprawls well. He's pushed Sherk's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Sherk changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Alves tries to avoid it but Sherk manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Alves to the ground. Alves escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Alves throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sherk shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Alves's guard. Sherk wants to control from the top but Alves keeps moving. Sherk passes easily into side control. Nice work. Alves is letting Sherk control him for a moment. Sherk trying to control the action but Alves is working from the bottom.

That was a close round but Silva Alves did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
