Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Young Tupac! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hugh Honey! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Ivan Kurochkin and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Honey tries to bum rush Tupac with a series of wild strikes but Tupac uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Honey tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Tupac was well out of range. Poor timing from Honey. Tupac throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Honey was covering up waiting for the punch and Tupac finishes the takedown easily into guard. Tupac wants to pass the guard but Honey is keeping the position. Tupac throwing strikes but missing. Honey working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Tupac. Honey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tupac. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Tupac postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Honey preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Tupac tries to free his leg and advance position but Honey is retaining full guard. Tupac throwing strikes but missing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tupac throws and elbow that misses. Honey uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Tupac's guard. Nice move by Honey! Tupac is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Tupac looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Tupac trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Honey must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Tupac striking off his back but it's not causing Honey any problems. Tupac will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Honey with a nice head shot there. Honey trying to control but Tupac is working from the bottom. Tupac wants to sweep here but Honey controlling him for the moment.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Honey moves away from the strike by Tupac.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Honey scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
It looks like Young Tupac has been cut. Hugh Honey is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Honey bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Tupac shoots in for a takedown but Honey shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Tupac is breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Honey lands with a big right hook that stumbles Tupac - he's out on his feet here! Honey follows up with another monster hook that separates Tupac from consciousness! Tupac falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Honey stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
