Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dave McDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rico Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McDonald comes to the cage accompanied by I Stand Alone. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dave McDonald! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rico Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McDonald throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sanchez was covering up waiting for the punch and McDonald finishes the takedown easily into guard. Sanchez keeping moving, preventing McDonald from controlling successfully. Sanchez working a defensive guard here.
McDonald stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sanchez swivels though and keeps the full guard. McDonald has gone for a leg lock! Sanchez slips out almost immediately though and dives into McDonald's guard. Sanchez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. McDonald is looking for a triangle here but Sanchez uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
McDonald is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Sanchez's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Sanchezis looking to pass into half guard but McDonald pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now McDonald is in guard. McDonald preventing the sweep. Sanchez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McDonald. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McDonald wants to pass the guard but Sanchez is keeping the position. Sanchez is pulling down on McDonald's head. It's preventing any offense from McDonald, at least for the moment. McDonald preventing the sweep. McDonald slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. McDonald is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sanchez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Sanchez is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked McDonald off and has taken his back!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanchez throwing sloppy strikes. McDonald tries to escape but Sanchez has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Sanchez is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. McDonald rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sanchez lands a nice short elbow. Still in half guard, Sanchez seems content to control. Sanchez throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Sanchez is trying to control. McDonald wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. McDonald is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sanchez pulls his head out easily. McDonald looking for submissions off his back. McDonald is breathing heavily. Sanchez trying to pass the guard but McDonald defending well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. McDonald shoots in but Sanchez avoids the takedown attempt easily. Sanchez wants to clinch. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. McDonald throws out a leg kick but Sanchez moves out of range and McDonald only half commits. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McDonald shoots in looking for a takedown. Sanchez tries to sprawl out of it but McDonald keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sanchez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. McDonald changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sanchez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanchez wants to control but McDonald postures up. McDonald tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. McDonald landing strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McDonald wants to control but Sanchez is keeping him busy. Sanchez tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McDonald wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Sanchez is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but McDonald has just dragged him back down to the mat.

McDonald thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Sanchez tries to improve position but can't. McDonald tries to score with some ground and pound. Sanchez controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Sanchez wants to control but McDonald is keeping busy and won't allow it. McDonald is looking for a kimura but Sanchez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for McDonald to get the leverage. McDonald looks to score some points with some ground and pound. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sanchez can do anything to dispel that myth. Sanchez trying to control from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Sanchez lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. McDonald shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sanchez pinned against the cage. Sanchez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. McDonald throws a solid leg kick but Sanchez takes the impact on his shin and smiles at McDonald. McDonald slips a straight right by Sanchez. Sanchez keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Sanchez moves in looking to clinch but McDonald pushes him off. Sanchez thows a body shot but no joy. McDonald shoots in and drives through. Sanchez sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dave McDonald. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Sanchez tries to clinch up. McDonald closes the distance but Sanchez moves to the side and Sanchez counters into the clinch. Nicely done. McDonald scores a nice knee to the body.

Sanchez is pressed up against the cage. McDonald has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sanchez down to the mat. Sanchez avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Sanchez tries to clinch and McDonald moves into the clinch. Sanchez misses with an elbow strike.
Sanchez creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Sanchez blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. McDonald blocks an elbow strike. A close second round but Rico Sanchez will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
McDonald gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Sanchez counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Sanchez swings wildly with an uppercut but McDonald uses good head movement to avoid it. Sanchez throws a punch but it's blocked by McDonald. McDonald on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Sanchez unloads a knee to the mid-section. Sanchez tried to land a shot to the body but connects with McDonald's elbow. McDonald takes a knee to the side of the body. Sanchez lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Sanchez working aggressively here.
McDonald ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. McDonald no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. McDonald looking to control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. McDonald working for a triangle but Sanchez defends it easily.
Sanchez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McDonald works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez's corner is telling him to maintain position. McDonald keeping moving, preventing Sanchez from controlling successfully. Sanchez got a little sloppy there for a moment and McDonald has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sanchez has managed to get both his arms back between McDonald's legs - danger averted. McDonald avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. McDonald looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sanchez is one step ahead there. Sanchez in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Sanchez controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Sanchez tries to free his leg and advance position but McDonald is retaining full guard. Sanchez trying to control the position from guard on top but McDonald is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. McDonald controls Sanchez momentarily but Sanchez frees himself. McDonald is looking for a triangle but Sanchez pushes his legs off easily.
Sanchez wants to get up but he can't break McDonald's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Sanchez looking to sit in guard and control but McDonald gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. McDonald is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanchez wants to sweep here but McDonald controlling him for the moment. Sanchez will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
McDonald looking to sit in guard and control but Sanchez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. McDonald has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Sanchez is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for McDonald. Sanchez is looking to take a break and control but McDonald is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Sanchez taking a break here but McDonald is having none of it and regains half guard. Sanchez not landing any meaningful shots this time. McDonald tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. McDonald gets full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sanchez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sanchez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. McDonald is trying to control the position but Sanchez postures up.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Rico Sanchez. I think Sanchez has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
