Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Evgeni Klitchkev! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Victor Kovas! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Konstantin Menshow and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kovas goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Evgeni Klitchkev has been cut. Kovas misses with a double jab.
Klitchkev tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kovas swivels and escapes. Klitchkev shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Kovas looking to control.
Kovas is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Klitchkev defends well. Kovas is trying to keep Klitchkev in close.
Kovas is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Klitchkev works a leg free and moves into half guard. Kovas is trying to control but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Klitchkev controlling the pace. Klitchkev is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kovas doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Klitchkev. Klitchkev is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kovas sees it coming and defends easily. Klitchkev is working for a submission of some sort.
Klitchkev gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Kovas throws out a loose jab but Klitchkev uses good head movement to avoid it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Klitchkev has taken the fight to the clinch.

Klitchkev has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kovas is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Evgeni Klitchkev. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kovas tries to circle away but Klitchkev has him pinned against the cage. Klitchkev manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Klitchkev is looking for a triangle but Kovas pushes his legs off easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Kovas wants to stand but Klitchkev is controlling his posture from full guard. Kovas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Klitchkev has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kovas has managed to get both his arms back between Klitchkev's legs - danger averted. Klitchkev is breathing heavily. Klitchkev manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kovas manages to get himself to full guard.

Klitchkev prevents Kovas from getting back to his feet. Klitchkev is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Kovas wants to stand up but Klitchkev is controlling him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Kovas controls Klitchkev momentarily but Klitchkev frees himself. Klitchkev trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Klitchkev is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kovas is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kovas has escaped and now he's on top! Kovas is looking to stand up but Klitchkev won't let him. Klitchkev looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kovas is looking to stand up but Klitchkev won't let him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Evgeni Klitchkev will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Evgeni Klitchkev's cut. That's time! Back to the action!

Victor Kovas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kovas misses with the combination.
The fighters circling - Kovas throws out the jab but it was never going to land. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kovas throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Klitchkev stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Kovas throws a looping overhand right but Klitchkev ducks down to avoid it. Klitchkev slips under a jab from Kovas.
That's one minute gone in the round. Klitchkev fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kovas, pushing him back against the cage. Klitchkev successfully pulls guard.
Klitchkev working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kovas doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kovas manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Klitchkev looking for subs off his back but Kovas has passed one foot through into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. It looks like Kovas is going to stand back up.
Klitchkev actively working from the bottom here. Kovas wants to stand but Klitchkev has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Klitchkev manages to escape and get back to his feet! Victor Kovas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Klitchkev keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Klitchkev moves out of range of the strikes. Kovas is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent. Kovas throws a body punch but Klitchkev moves out of range. Klitchkev takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Kovas thows a body shot but no joy. Kovas scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. This has been an exciting period of action! Kovas lands a nice looking body shot.
Kovas bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Klitchkev's head backwards. Kovas with a jab.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kovas misses with a series of wild punches.
Victor Kovas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Kovas lands a slapping body shot.
Klitchkev drops his hands momentarily and Kovas takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Kovas drops Klitchkev with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Klitchkev looks back up at him and smiles so Kovas waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Klitchkev is rocked! Kovas misses with a few strikes there.
Kovas throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Kovas lands a really nice looking cross but Klitchkev seems unphased.
Oh Klitchkev is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! This has been an exciting period of action! Kovas punishes Klitchkev's body with a nice straight punch. Klitchkev seems to have got his legs back now. Klitchkev avoids a lazy jab quite easily. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Kovas. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Kovas misses with a wild combination.

Klitchkev shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kovas pinned against the cage. Kovas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Kovas throws a jab when Klitchkev was well out of range. Kovas throws out a powerful jab. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Kovas scores with a hook to the body. Klitchkev takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Kovas lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Kovas throws out a powerful jab. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Victor Kovas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Evgeni Klitchkev's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Kovas feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Klitchkev sprawling to the canvas! Klitchkev rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Kovas finish him?!
Kovas measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Klitchkev! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:11 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Victor Kovas! Victor Kovas is the new heavyweight champion!
