Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Diego Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rubens Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Charles has chosen Killin in the name of as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Diego Sanchez has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rubens Charles!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Sanchez looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Charles misses with a series of wild punches.
Charles throws a nice head kick!

Sanchez gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Charles wants to control from the top but Sanchez keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Charles trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Charles trying to control the position from guard on top but Sanchez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Charles sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sanchez's guard.
Charles has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Charles lands a big shot there that rocks Sanchez but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Charles tries to control but Sanchez wriggling away.
Sanchez tries to hold on but Charles postures up.
Charles prevents Sanchez from getting the reversal.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Charles landing strikes, looking to finish!

Despite being in the dominant position, Rubens Charles just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sanchez is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Charles.

Charles shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Charles was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Sanchez is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Charles is looking to take a break and control but Sanchez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Charles perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Charles is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sanchez sees it coming and defends easily.

Charles lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Charles avoids a punch combination nicely.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Charles fails with an attempt to clinch.

Sanchez shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Sanchez wants to stand but Charles has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Charles keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Charles is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sanchez pulls his head out easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sanchez tries to pass the half guard into mount. Charles knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Rubens Charles will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Charles tries to clinch but Sanchez moves out of range.
Sanchez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Charles's waist but Charles gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sanchez off to one side.
Charles misses with a jab, cross combination.
Sanchez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Charles.
Charles has a takedown stuffed.
Charles tries to clinch there but Sanchez circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Both fighters circling a little - Sanchez finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Charles misses with a wild combination.
Sanchez lands a nice shot to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Charles shoots in for a takedown but Sanchez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Diego Sanchez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rubens Charles.

Charles is trying to drag Sanchez to the mat but Sanchez just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Sanchez tries to pull guard but Charles won't allow it.

Charles tries a knee to the head but Sanchez blocks it.
Charles tries to circle away but Sanchez has him pinned against the cage.

Sanchez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sanchez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Charles lands a nice shot to the body.

Sanchez clinches up with Charles and pushes him back against the cage.
Charles goes for a takedown attempt but Sanchez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Diego Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Charles looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Charles misses with a takedown
and Sanchez counters with an outside leg kick.
Sanchez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Charles swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Nice sprawl there from Charles as Sanchez shoots in.

Charles cracks Sanchez with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Diego Sanchez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Charles closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sanchez did well to prevent Charles getting side control.

Rubens Charles comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Charles winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
