Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Henderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arthur The King!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The King fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Henderson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming The King to the mat! The King manages to get full guard.
The King is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Henderson won't allow The King to get back to his feet.
The King keeping moving, preventing Henderson from controlling successfully.

The King has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Henderson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The King controls Henderson momentarily but Henderson frees himself.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The King throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The King with a poor takedown

and Henderson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in The King's guard now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Henderson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Henderson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches The King napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Henderson wants to control for a moment but The King uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Henderson wants to improve his position but The King is controlling well.
Henderson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Henderson tries to get out of the position.
The King wants to control but Henderson is keeping him busy.
Henderson is trying to stand.
The King is keen to just control but Henderson is a slippery customer.

Henderson flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Henderson is staying active underneath The King, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
The King doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Henderson counters with a shoot takedown. The King fights it but they end up in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The King wants to stand and escape but Henderson is having none of it.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Henderson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Henderson gets to his feet - The King follows without any prompting.
The King doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Henderson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in The King's guard now.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

The King is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Henderson has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The King tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Henderson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

and Henderson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Henderson stops The King from standing up.
Henderson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. The King swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Henderson prevents The King from getting back to his feet.
The King is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Henderson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The King is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Henderson controls from within his opponent's guard.
Joe Henderson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Henderson wants to control from the top but The King keeps moving.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Henderson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in The King's guard now.
Arthur The King has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Joe Henderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arthur The King.
Henderson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. The King swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The King wants to stand up but Henderson is controlling him.

Henderson gets to his feet. The King looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

And that's the end of the fight!
Joe Henderson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Henderson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
