PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wilson Soto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Burat Puke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wilson Soto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Burat Puke!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Hirohito Nitta and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puke misses with a kick to the body.

Puke looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Puke trying to control the pace.
Puke looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Soto is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Puke controlling the pace.

Puke stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Soto to get to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Puke gets the takedown into side control.
Puke throws an elbow but Soto slips to the side and avoids it well.
Soto is looking for a sweep.
Soto manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Soto manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Soto looking to hit a scissor sweep but Puke is one step ahead there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Soto throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Soto working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Puke.
Puke trying to control the position from guard on top but Soto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Soto is trying to keep Puke in close.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Puke decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Puke looks gassed!
Soto tries to kick Puke off but Puke keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Puke seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Soto does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Puke stands up out of the half guard.
Burat Puke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Soto misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Puke.
Puke misses with a head kick.
Soto changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Puke tries to avoid it but Soto manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Puke to the ground. Puke escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Soto feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Puke controls Soto momentarily but Soto frees himself.
Soto passes easily into side control. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Burat Puke dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Puke tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Puke tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Wilson Soto is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Soto misses with a takedown

and Puke counters with a nice double leg into side control. Soto won't be happy with that.

Puke decides to stand back up.

Puke shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Soto makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Soto.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Soto keeping moving, preventing Puke from controlling successfully.
Soto is trying to keep Puke in close.
Soto bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Puke's guard.

Soto drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Soto seems to have locked his on tight now - Puke screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Soto, as he picks up the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Wilson Soto!
