PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marco Ruiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Tramp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruiz's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, U're the Best Around. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marco Ruiz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phil Tramp!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tramp swats away the attempt to clinch by Ruiz.
Ruiz tries to score with a low kick but Tramp moves his leg out of the way.
Phil Tramp seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ruiz throws a left that rocks Tramp and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Ruiz dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Tramp regain composure!


Tramp is rocked!


It looks like Phil Tramp has been cut.

Ruiz stands up and beckons Tramp to his feet.

Ruiz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ruiz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Tramp ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ruiz moves away.

Tramp closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Ruiz sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Ruiz is breathing heavily.

Ruiz makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Tramp throws a head kick but Ruiz moves out of range.
Nice sprawl there from Ruiz as Tramp shoots in.
Tramp darts in trying to clinch
and Ruiz counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Ruiz throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Tramp tries to clinch there but Ruiz circles away.
Tramp shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Ruiz counters with a nice low kick that buckles Tramp's knee momentarily.
Marco Ruiz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phil Tramp.

Tramp shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ruiz but Ruiz pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ruiz tries to clinch but Tramp is having none of it.
Tramp pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

and Ruiz counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

and Ruiz counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Tramp will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ruiz stands up from Tramp's guard - Ruiz perhaps looking for a knockout.

Ruiz tries to clinch but Tramp is having none of it.

Tramp rushes Ruiz and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Tramp feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ruiz, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
