PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Danny Killa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Ming Chang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dave Ming Chang told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Danny Killa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave Ming Chang!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Richard Clark and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Killa fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ming Chang avoids it really well and circles away.
Ming Chang fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Killa manages to avoid it.
Killa walks into a stiff left hand from Ming Chang.
A punch combination from Ming Chang misses.
No luck for Killa with that takedown attempt.
Ming Chang lands a body shot.

Ming Chang looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Killa!

Ming Chang jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Killa is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Killa and Ming Chang has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Ming Chang goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Killa has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ming Chang but great work by Killa.

Well, if Killa is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Killa tries to free his leg and advance position but Ming Chang is retaining full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ming Chang controls Killa momentarily but Killa frees himself.

Ming Chang scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Killa throws a jab but it's blocked by Ming Chang.

Ming Chang gets caught flat footed, as Killa shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Killa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ming Chang swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ming Chang thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Ming Chang is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Ming Chang wants to stand but Killa is controlling the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Ming Chang is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Ming Chang goes for a takedown in the clinch but Killa prevents it.
Ming Chang has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Killa is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Ming Chang goes for a takedown attempt but Killa pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Danny Killa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Ming Chang.
Ming Chang throws the left hand but Killa avoids the punch easily.
Killa displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ming Chang.

Ming Chang is desperately trying to improve his position but Killa has a good base and remains in mount.
Killa wants to control the pace but Ming Chang is squirming around nicely.

Killa moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Ming Chang has worked his arm free - good work by Ming Chang!
Ming Chang gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Killa prevents Ming Chang from improving his position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Ming Chang dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Killa throws a body punch but Ming Chang moves out of range.
Danny Killa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

enabling Ming Chang to counter with a crisp jab.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Killa. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Ming Chang decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Killa's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ming Chang wants to control from the top but Killa keeps moving.

Ming Chang drops back looking for a leg! Killa is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Killa manages to kick Ming Chang off! Ming Chang jumps back into Killa's guard.

Ming Chang wants to stand but Killa has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ming Chang passes into half guard.
Ming Chang wants to stand up but Killa has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ming Chang misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Killa scores with a takedown into Ming Chang's guard.

Killa pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ming Chang is keeping the position for now.
Killa trying to control the position from guard on top but Ming Chang is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ming Chang throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Ming Chang is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Ming Chang is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Killa is controlling him.

Killa wants to control from the top but Ming Chang keeps moving.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Some wild striking there from Ming Chang.
Killa bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

and Killa counters with a single leg into guard. Ming Chang didn't expect that.

Ming Chang is trying to stand up here but Killa is controlling him well.

Killa wants to work for an arm triangle but Ming Chang is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Killa is pressing down on Ming Chang's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ming Chang is holding on for now.
Dave Ming Chang has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ming Chang is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Dave Ming Chang showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Killa tries for a takedown but Ming Chang circles away easily

so Ming Chang counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Killa looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Ming Chang stands up and waves to Killa to follow him.
Ming Chang punishes Killa's body with a nice straight punch.
Killa ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Ming Chang swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A jab from Ming Chang does it's job there.
Killa fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Killa on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Left hook, right uppercut from Ming Chang.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ming Chang shoots in looking for a takedown. Killa tries to sprawl out of it but Ming Chang keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Killa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Killa decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ming Chang is refusing to be controlled, as Killa sits in half guard.
Ming Chang is trying to stand back up but Killa is controlling him
Killa frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Killa looking to control but Ming Chang is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Killa moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Ming Chang has worked his arm free - good work by Ming Chang!

Ming Chang is pushing Killa's head away, looking to escape. Killa manages to hold on to the position though.

Ming Chang scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Killa doesn't seem bothered though.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Ming Chang, as that shot connected.

and Killa counters with a right hand to the body.

Dave Ming Chang is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Ming Chang looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Killa postures up.

Killa drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Ming Chang manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Killa has Ming Chang in his guard.

Ming Chang gets to his feet - Killa follows without any prompting.
Ming Chang scores with a hook to the body. Killa takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Ming Chang decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Ming Chang seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Danny Killa has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Killa is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ming Chang's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ming Chang's back!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ming Chang rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Ming Chang is trying is best to control the position here.

I've got Ming Chang winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
