Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Temujin Baatar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Paul Thiago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Paul Thiago!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thiago slips a jab and a cross from Baatar.
Nice defenses there by Baatar.

Baatar gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Thiago sitting in guard here, content to control.
Thiago sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Baatar's guard.
Thiago is looking to take a break and control but Baatar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Thiago is trying to work for a kimura but Baatar is defending well.

Thiago is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Baatar still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Baatar has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thiago gets back to half guard.

Baatar is looking for a kimura but Thiago is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Baatar to get the leverage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Thiago trying to control here.

Baatar seems to be looking for submissions.
Thiago is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Baatar works his way into side control.
Baatar is breathing heavily.

Baatar is trying to get an arm triangle but Thiago is defending well.
Thiago can't do much from the bottom here.
Thiago holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.

Baatar working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Baatar goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Thiago rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Baatar's guard! Nice work there by Thiago!
Baatar can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Thiago controls the pace.

Thiago throws a combination that misses
and Baatar cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Baatar misses the jab.
Thiago fails with the takedown.
Thiago avoids a punch combination nicely.
Baatar scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Baatar throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Thiago fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Baatar sprawls well initially but Thiago persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Thiago wants to take a breather but Baatar is having none of it.

Thiago is working for a submission of some sort.
Thiago seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Baatar does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Thiago is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Baatar is just riding it out for now. Thiago eventually gives up the hold.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Thiago throwing shots but Baatar is blocking nicely.

Thiago is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Baatar defends it well.
Thiago trying to control from half guard but Baatar is working away.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Good shot there by Baatar.
Baatar throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Baatar works the jab nicely.
Baatar scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Thiago misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Baatar.
Baatar lands with a nice combination. Thiago backs away looking to recover.
Baatar connects with a good right hand that stumbles Thiago. Thiago circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Thiago lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Baatar circles away quickly and effectively.
Baatar throws out a powerful jab.
Thiago showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Baatar.

Thiago shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Thiago showed some decent athleticism there.
Baatar tries to roll over but Thiago keeps him under control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Thiago missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but John Paul Thiago will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Baatar looks to land a right hand but Thiago moved out of range.
Thiago closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Baatar throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Thiago.

Thiago shoots in and bounces Baatar off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Thiago slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

A lull in the action here.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

You can see the frustration on Baatar's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Thiago goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Baatar has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Thiago but great work by Baatar.
Thiago struggling a bit here.

Baatar wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Thiago, who protects the arm well.
Thiago manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Baatar wants to stand up but Thiago manages to regain full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Baatar trying to control the position from guard on top but Thiago is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Thiago working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Baatar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Baatar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Thiago pulls Baatar in close to prevent any damage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Baatar thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Paul Thiago comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Thiago winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
