PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jaggar Bennis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hellen Keller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jaggar Bennis has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jaggar Bennis seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jaggar Bennis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Hellen Keller!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Keller clinches with his opponent.

Keller jumps guard and drags Bennis to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Bennis stops Keller from standing up.
Bennis looking to pass the guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

so Keller counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Bennis is working an open guard so Keller takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Keller is pressed up against the cage. Bennis has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Keller down to the mat. Keller avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Bennis misses with a straight right.
Bennis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bennis is breathing heavily.

Keller moves into the clinch.
Keller gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bennis.

Bennis is fighting to break Keller's control of his arms but Keller is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Let's hope that Keller has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Keller tries to free his leg and advance position but Bennis is retaining full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Keller closes the distance and clinches.

Keller pushes Bennis off and gets back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bennis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Keller clinches up with Bennis and pushes him back against the cage.
Keller gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bennis.

Keller breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Horrible takedown by Keller or perhaps it was just good defense by Bennis which made him look bad.
Keller goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Keller takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Keller will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Keller jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bennis walks away with a smile on his face. Keller gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Bennis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bennis wants it to stay on the feet.

Bennis shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Keller is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Bennis fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Bennis has Keller pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Keller manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Bennis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Keller is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Hellen Keller is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Keller tightens his grip and picks Bennis up, before dumping him to the ground. Bennis manages to land in guard.

Well Keller has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
