The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Savage feints and as Pharyngioma raises his hands in defense, Savage changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Pharyngioma has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Savage is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Pharyngioma. Pharyngioma is looking to regain half guard here but Savage keeps moving and retains side control. Savage decides to stand up, so the ref orders Pharyngioma to his feet. Savage looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Pharyngioma is looking for a triangle but Savage pushes his legs off easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pharyngioma tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Savage wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pharyngioma sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Pharyngioma is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Savage's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Savage's back! Savage showing good submission defense here.
Pharyngioma is breathing heavily. Pharyngioma is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Savage knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Savage for a finish. Pharyngioma softening up his opponent with strikes here.

Savage really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pharyngioma. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pharyngioma is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Pharyngioma is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Pharyngioma moves into full mount! Savage won't be happy about that! Savage takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
It looks like Dave Savage has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pharyngioma landing punches. Pharyngioma has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Savage's face.
That has opened up Dave Savage's cut even more. Pharyngioma has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Savage has left one of his arms exposed and Pharyngioma doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Savage screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
