PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lars Bross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bross has chosen Jamelia - Superstar as his entrance music. Matt Hunter had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 206.2lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Lars Bross has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lars Bross!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Dean Styles and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bross avoids the body shot from Hunter.
Hunter looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Bross throws a right and a left that both miss.
Nice jab there from Bross.
Hunter tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bross sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hunter somewhat.
Hunter takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Hunter dodges the punch combination from Bross.
Bross throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hunter.
Bross lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Bross drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Bross lands a decent elbow from side control.
Bross creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Hunter sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Bross slows the pace down.
Bross throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Hunter takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Hunter prevents Bross from improving position.
Hunter is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Bross cracks Hunter with a big right hand but Hunter just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Bross scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Hunter to see if he's OK.
Hunter pushes Bross away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Bross gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Bross is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunter stops Bross from passing to mount.
Bross remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Hunter wants to control but Bross postures up.
Bross is looking to take a break and control but Hunter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bross is landing with some decent strikes but Hunter is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Nice uppercut lands for Bross. That snapped Hunter's head back.

Bross looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Bross is looking to advance position but Hunter won't allow it.
Bross is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Hunter!

BOOM! Bross connects with a massive shot to the dome!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Despite being in the dominant position, Lars Bross just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Matt Hunter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Bross lands with an uppercut that bounces Hunter off the cage and back into rage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Lars Bross comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bross has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
