Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Manny Cod (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and AJ Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). AJ Foster is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Manny Cod!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, AJ Foster!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Foster fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Foster blocks a head kick by Cod.
Cod with a poor takedown

and Foster counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Foster trying to stand up but can't free himself from Cod's guard.
Foster looks gassed!
Foster trying to control but Cod is working from the bottom.
Cod is adopting a defensive guard.

Cod wants to control but Foster passes easily into half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Cod looking for submissions off his back.
Cod wants to control but Foster is keeping busy.
Foster tries to pass to full mount but Cod defends it.
Foster is thwarting Cod's attempts to control the position.

Foster is taking a breather. Cod says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Foster is looking to take a break and control but Cod is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cod wants to control but Foster is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cod thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Foster if he has to take too many more of those.
Cod tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Cod fakes the leg kick and cracks Foster in the body.

Cod shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Foster won't allow Cod to pass to mount.

Cod seems to be working for a kimura but Foster defends the submission attempt.

Cod wants to work for an arm triangle but Foster is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Cod thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Foster's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Manny Cod will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


Cod gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Foster counters with a takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cod wants to control but Foster postures up.

Foster is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cod knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Cod can't do much from the bottom here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cod manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Cod is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Foster has managed to free his arm - good work.

Foster looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A good leg kick by Cod.
Cod misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Cod is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Foster's half guard.

Cod is looking for a kimura here.
Cod knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Foster on the ground.

Cod is trying to work for a kimura but Foster is defending well.

Foster moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Cod in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Cod is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Foster is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Foster has escaped and now he's on top!
Cod controls Foster momentarily but Foster frees himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Foster trying to control the position from guard on top but Cod is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cod preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Cod looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

AJ Foster showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Cod lands with a kick to the temple. Foster shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Cod is looking to land body kicks.
Foster throws a body punch but Cod moves out of range.
Cod throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Foster's head.
Foster leaves Cod with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Cod thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Foster if he has to take too many more of those.

Foster shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Foster showed some decent athleticism there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Foster is looking to take a break and control but Cod is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cod moves into full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cod keeping moving, preventing Foster from controlling successfully.
Foster trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cod trying to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Foster takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Cod scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Cod closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Foster to the mat! Foster manages to get full guard.

Cod drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cod jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Cod got a little sloppy there for a moment and Foster has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Cod has managed to get both his arms back between Foster's legs - danger averted.
Cod with a nice head shot there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cod trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cod's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Cod pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Foster is keeping the position for now.
Codis looking to pass into half guard but Foster pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Foster is in guard.
Foster trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Cod has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Foster can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cod pulls Foster in to control the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Manny Cod showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Cod has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
