The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wood fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jackson manages to avoid it. Wood misses with a looping left. Jackson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jackson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Jackson landing strikes from the mount and Wood is in trouble! Jackson lands a big shot there that rocks Wood but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Wood tries to hold on but Jackson pushes him away. Jackson looking to control and managing it successfully. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wood can do anything to dispel that myth. Jackson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Wood can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jackson looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Jackson is landing with some decent strikes but Wood is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Wood is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Wood is still in real trouble! Can Jackson finish him? Jackson lands a big shot to the head and Wood winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
