Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Cortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Markus Dublin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Carlos Cortez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Markus Dublin!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Daniel Blasius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dublin keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Dublin has taken the fight to the clinch.
Dublin wants to break free but Cortez has control.

Cortez lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Dublin tries to roll over but Cortez keeps him under control.
Dublin desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Dublin gets full guard.
Cortez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Dublin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Dublin controlling the position.

Cortez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Dublin looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Cortez has picked Dublin up and slammed him! Dublin can't keep hold of the triangle and Cortez manages to pass to side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dublin is being controlled here.
Dublin struggling a bit here.
Cortez lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Cortez tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Dublin looks to move to half guard but instead Cortez has passed into mount! Damn!

Cortez trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Dublin is working to get back to half guard.
Cortez controlling from mount.
Cortez avoids the attempt from Dublin to control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cortez scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Dublin?
Dublin wants to hold on but Cortez pushes him away.
Dublin looks gassed!
Cortez controlling from the full mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dublin wants to control but Cortez is having none of it.
Cortez prevents Dublin from getting the reversal.
Dublin is squirming around, avoiding Cortez's attempts to control the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Cortez has hold of Dublin's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Dublin manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Cortez moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Dublin has worked his arm free - good work by Dublin!

Cortez stands up and beckons Dublin to his feet.

Cortez bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Cortez controls the position from side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carlos Cortez dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Dublin shoots and misses

and Cortez counters with a shoot takedown. Dublin fights it but they end up in guard.
Cortez is pushing down on Dublin's leg trying to pass to half guard. Dublin is fighting to maintain full guard but Cortez has managed to sneak the leg through.
Cortez trying to mount his opponent but Dublin defends it.
Cortez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Dublin looking for submissions off his back.
Dublin is looking to improve his position.
Cortez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dublin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cortez wants to free his trapped foot but Dublin is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Cortez is trying to control. Dublin wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Cortez is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Dublin is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Cortez stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Dublin is pressed up against the cage. Cortez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Dublin down to the mat. Dublin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Cortez has his takedown stuffed

and Dublin counters with a shoot takedown. Cortez fights it but they end up in guard.
Dublin wants to control from the top but Cortez keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cortez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Cortez looking for a guillotine here but Dublin defends easily.
Dublin keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Cortez's head.
Dublin postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cortez is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Dublin won't allow Cortez to sweep him here.
Dublin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cortez tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Dublin is able to avoid easily.
Cortez doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Dublin counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Cortez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dublin looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Cortez wants to sweep but Dublin has passed to side control!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Dublin has an Americana. Cortez didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Dublin is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Dublin hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Markus Dublin!
