PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Orlando California (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Khru Kang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kang has chosen Goldberg Entrance Theme by WCW as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Khru Kang!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kang slaps away a takedown attempt from California, before circling back to the center of the mat.

It looks like Khru Kang has been cut.
Kang has his takedown stuffed

and California counters with a shoot takedown. Kang fights it but they end up in guard.
California missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
California has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
California stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kang swivels though and keeps the full guard.

California is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kang is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kang has escaped and now he's on top!

California working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Kang has passed into half guard!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kang is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. California can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Kang fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kang is working for a guillotine from mount but California frees his head quite easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

California tries to reverse the position but Kang maintains control.
California is working hard here to advance position.
California is in a horrible position here. Kang smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Kang is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. California can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Kang cracks California with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
BOOM! Kang connects with a massive shot to the dome!

California is wriggling around trying to escape.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kang lands with some strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Khru Kang dominated that round.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kang shoots in and drives through. California sprawls well.
Orlando California seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kang throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around California's waist but California gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kang off to one side.
California tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kang swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Kang counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in California's guard now.
Kang is working California over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Kang is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. California doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kang.

California is not content to let Kang control the position.
California takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kang scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. California doesn't seem bothered though.
California swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Kang counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
California takes a shot right to the bread basket.
California takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Kang drives through and clinches with California against the cage.
Kang lands a nice knee to the body.

Kang jumps guard and drags California to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Kang escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. California gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kang escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. California gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
California throws a strike but Kang rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

California looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Kang has picked California up and slammed him! California can't keep hold of the triangle and Kang manages to pass to side control!
California is looking for a sweep.
Kang lands a decent elbow from side control.
Kang lands a nice forearm strike.
Kang works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
California is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
California is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Kang looks up at the clock and then as California takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kang smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
California tries to buck Kang off but Kang is having none of it.

California is not content to let Kang control the position.
California is looking for a sweep.

Khru Kang has got the better of the ground game so far.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Khru Kang showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Kang shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kang showed some decent athleticism there.
California gets back to full guard.
California looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Kang postures up in California's guard and throws a big left but California blocks it.

California has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Kang should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, California has tightened it up now! Kang should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
