The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mota shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
silva has his hands clasped together around Mota's back. He's all about the action.

Mota takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Mota is stalling here. silva is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Mota seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and silva has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Mota is landing with some decent strikes but silva is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Mota tries to close the distance and clinch but silva swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

silva is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Mota can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Mota breaks silva's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
silva working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mota doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mota manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mota is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

rodrigo silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

silva throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mota was covering up waiting for the punch and silva finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Mota is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

silva manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mota manages to get himself to full guard.

silva moves into full mount! Mota won't be happy about that!
silva is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Mota is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Mota flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. silva anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Mota and secures both hooks! This could be bad! silva slips an arm under Mota chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. silva has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. silva is squeezing on Mota like an anaconda would it's prey. Mota fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
