Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kenjiro Takagawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Soldier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Takagawa's entrance music is "Ready Steady Go" by L'Arc~en~Ciel. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenjiro Takagawa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mike Soldier! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Soldier gets in close and instigates a clinch. Knees in the clinch landing for Soldier.
Soldier jumps guard and drags Takagawa to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Takagawa wants to control from the top but Soldier keeps moving. Soldier has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Takagawa off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Soldier dives in and grabs Takagawa's left leg, looking for a takedown. Takagawa pushes down on Soldier's head and hops out. Takagawa shoots in and bounces Soldier off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Soldier looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's one minute gone in the round. Takagawa is working hard here to advance position. Takagawa with a flurry of punches that miss. Soldier utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Takagawa scoring with some ground and pound. Takagawa throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Soldier works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Takagawa wants to get up but he can't break Soldier's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Soldier working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Takagawa. Soldier utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Soldier wants to stand and escape but Takagawa is having none of it. Takagawa slips nicely into half guard. Soldier is looking to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Takagawa sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Soldier defending well though.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Soldier moves into range and clinches up with Takagawa. Takagawa is trying to trip Soldier. He has hold of a leg but Soldier is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Takagawa persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Takagawa chips away with some ground and pound. Takagawa looking to pass the guard. Takagawa loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Takagawa trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Soldier is looking for a triangle but Takagawa pushes his legs off easily.
Takagawa seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Takagawa drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Takagawa jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Takagawa throws a big right hand that misses. Takagawa working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Takagawa throws a big right hand that misses. Takagawa lands a couple of elbows. Takagawa prevents Soldier from getting back to his feet. Takagawa decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Soldier tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Soldier tries to close the distance and clinch but Takagawa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Takagawa scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Soldier wants to get back to his feet but Takagawa drags him back down. Takagawa wants to control but Soldier is keeping him busy. Soldier prevents Takagawa from improving position. Takagawa in side control lands a decent elbow. Takagawa fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Takagawa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Soldier keeps working. Soldier gets back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kenjiro Takagawa dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Soldier with a lazy takedown attempt and Takagawa counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Soldier's guard now. Takagawa slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Takagawa gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Soldier closes the distance looking to clinch and Takagawa counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Takagawa is working for takedown but Soldier is calmly controlling the position for now. Soldier ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Soldier no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Soldier keeping moving, preventing Takagawa from controlling successfully. Takagawa postures up in Soldier's guard and throws a big left but Soldier blocks it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Takagawa trying to control the position from guard on top but Soldier is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Takagawa working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Soldier wants to stand up but Takagawa is controlling him. Takagawa has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Takagawa landing with the ground and pound. Soldier trying to keep a closed guard but Takagawa is proving a slippery customer.

Kenjiro Takagawa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Soldier blocking the ground and pound attempt from Takagawa.

I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Takagawa connects with a nice short shot to Soldier's temple. Takagawa is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Nice strikes from Takagawa there. Soldier keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Soldier is staying active underneath Takagawa, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Soldier is looking for a sweep. Takagawa is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Soldier has hold of Takagawa's hands but Takagawa slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Soldier trying to hold on to Takagawa's head to control him but Takagawa postures up.

Takagawa stops Soldier from standing up. Takagawa is stalling in the full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Soldier is looking to stand up but Takagawa isn't so interested in that idea. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Soldier wants to clinch but Takagawa slips to the side and Takagawa counters with a straight right hand. Soldier tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Takagawa counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Takagawa prevents the takedown attempt.

Takagawa is working for takedown but Soldier is calmly controlling the position for now. Both fighters are breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Soldier keeps control of Takagawa as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Soldier misses with an elbow strike.
Soldier is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Takagawa pulls him back up using the underhooks. Takagawa drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Soldier gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Takagawa lands a hook that snaps the head of Soldier backwards. Soldier is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Takagawa gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Soldier drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Takagawa's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Takagawa circles away from the clinch attempt and Takagawa decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Soldier's guard. Takagawa looking to pass the guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Soldier throws a sloppy head kick and Takagawa moves out of range easily. Horrible takedown by Takagawa or perhaps it was just good defense by Soldier which made him look bad. Takagawa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Soldier counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Soldier's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Soldier misses with a takedown and Takagawa counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Takagawa. Takagawa trying to control the position from guard on top but Soldier is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Takagawa in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Kenjiro Takagawa is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Soldier is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Soldier is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Takagawa defends well. Takagawa trying to control but Soldier is working from the bottom. Takagawa pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Soldier is keeping the position for now. Mike Soldier has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Soldier is looking to stand up but Takagawa isn't so interested in that idea.
And that's the end of the fight! Kenjiro Takagawa showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Takagawa, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
