Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cody Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Bourg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson comes into the arena with Jedi blaring out of the sound system. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cody Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeff Bourg! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bourg changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to avoid it but Bourg manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johnson to the ground. Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Bourg throws a half hearted mid kick. Johnson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Bourg has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
It looks like Jeff Bourg has been cut. Bourg scores a takedown into full mount! The referee warns Johnson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Johnson flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Johnson wants to control but Bourg is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bourg looking to control but Johnson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Bourg controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson throwing hammer fists to the chest of Bourg. What's that going to do exactly? Bourg trying to control but Johnson is having none of it. Bourg sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Johnson wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Bourg.
Bourg controlling the position easily from mount. Bourg is stalling here but it's allowed Johnson to get half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bourg scores with a couple of nice shots. Bourg is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Bourg stands up and beckons Johnson to join him on the feet. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Bourg. Bourg shoots for a takedown but Johnson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Cody Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnson throws a nice looking combination but Bourg bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Bourg takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson closes the distance and pushes Bourg back into the cage. Bourg wants a takedown but no success here.
Cody Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Bourg. A frustrated look appears on Bourg's face as he tries to break the clinch. Bourg looks gassed! Johnson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Johnson has his takedown stuffed and Bourg counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Bourg frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bourg controlling the pace for now. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Bourg punching from mount but Johnson doing a good job of avoiding damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Jeff Bourg will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Jeff Bourg's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Johnson tries to bum rush Bourg with a series of wild strikes but Bourg uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Johnson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Bourg counters with a shoot takedown. Johnson fights it but they end up in guard. Johnson looking for a sweep. Not yet Johnson, not yet. Johnson keeping moving, preventing Bourg from controlling successfully. Johnson tries to land a sweep but no joy. Bourg tries to free his leg and advance position but Johnson is retaining full guard. Johnson has momentary wrist control but Bourg slips an elbow through the middle.

Bourg uses his free foot to push down on Johnson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Johnson. Johnson is squirming around, avoiding Bourg's attempts to control the action.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Bourg fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Bourg moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Johnson has worked his arm free - good work by Johnson!
Bourg is breathing heavily. Bourg wants to lay and pray for a moment but Johnson keeps working. Johnson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Bourg has just dragged him back down to the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Bourg lands a decent elbow from side control. Bourg trying to control the action but Johnson is working from the bottom. Bourg is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Bourg wants to control for a moment but Johnson uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jeff Bourg showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Jeff Bourg's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Bourg drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bourg trying to control the action but Johnson is working from the bottom. Johnson is looking for a sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson being controlled for a moment. Bourg is looking to take a break and control but Johnson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Despite being in the dominant position, Jeff Bourg just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Bourg showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Johnson.
Johnson checks the leg kick. Johnson throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Johnson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bourg to score an easy takedown into full guard. Bourg takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Johnson is adopting a defensive guard. Johnson being controlled here, momentarily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bourg trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jeff Bourg has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Bourg might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Johnson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Bourg looking to sit in guard and control but Johnson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Cody Johnson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jeff Bourg is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Johnson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Jeff Bourg. I've got Bourg winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
