PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pongor Szinko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lonnie Kiger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Szinko comes to the cage accompanied by The Pursuit of Vikings. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pongor Szinko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lonnie Kiger!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Szinko wants to clinch.
Nice defenses there by Kiger.
Szinko misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kiger swats away the attempt to clinch by Szinko.
Szinko fails to land with a series of punches.
Szinko moves in looking to clinch but Kiger pushes him off.
Kiger avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kiger on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Kiger circles away from the clinch attempt.
Szinko throws a right and a left that Kiger avoids nicely.
No joy there for Szinko, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Szinko fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kiger displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Szinko throws out the jab.
Szinko throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Szinko will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Szinko tries to close the distance and clinch but Kiger swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Szinko throws a jab when Kiger was well out of range.
Szinko fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kiger manages to avoid it.
No joy there for Szinko, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Kiger moves into the clinch successfully.
Kiger avoids the elbow strike from Szinko, against the cage.
Kiger drops down looking for an ankle pick but Szinko pulls his leg out and moves away.
Szinko throws a hook but Kiger blocks it.
Szinko tries to clinch but Kiger moves away

and Kiger counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Szinko!
Kiger controlling the position easily from mount.
Szinko tries to buck Kiger off but he can't manage it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kiger looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Kiger looking for a guillotine from mount but Szinko is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Szinko is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Kiger has hold of Szinko's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Szinko manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Kiger looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kiger lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Kiger with shots to the head and body - Szinko looks very uncomfortable down there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
You get the feeling that Szinko really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Kiger has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Szinko's face.

Kiger goes for an armbar but Szinko turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Szinko.
Kiger looks gassed!
Szinko postures up.
Kiger wants to sweep here but Szinko controlling him for the moment.

Kiger has his foot on Szinko's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Szinko works his way back into a safe position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Szinko trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kiger's guard.
Kiger looking to control.
Szinko wants to stand but Kiger has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Kiger is looking to stand up but Szinko isn't so interested in that idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lonnie Kiger dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Szinko lands with an overhand left.
Szinko misses with a combination
and Kiger counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Szinko changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Kiger loses concentration momentarily and Szinko pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Kiger crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Szinko finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Pongor Szinko!
